my house backs on to a golf course and we’ve had two snake encounters in the past month or so including this fat **** copperhead  not great when you have twin 2yo’s who love playing in the backyard.
That one looks like it could eat a kid whole!

I’m next to a course and see a tiger at home once or twice a year. Can’t blame the course though. A snake catcher told me there’s probably a tiger living under every house and the only ones you are likely to see are the juveniles on their way to find their forever home.

9 holes and playing a 2 man ambrose with a mate who'd be around a 25 handicap at best. Shot 2 under.

Solo eagle and birdie on 1 and 3 in calm conditions helped the cause lol.

Followed up with an 82 on my own on Wednesday in horrible wind. Doesn't help that I just lose the plot when the wind picks up. The gap between my play in calm vs. wind is way too high.

Lost on a countback today with 43 is the lowlight. Highlight is that my handicap is at a new low at 17.1.

I'm on cloud nine right now.

Mt Derrimut today. My second ever comp day. Playing off a 38 handicap, so bare that in mind.

My previous PB at Derrimut was 115 strokes.

Today I hit 107, for 41 Stableford points!

Thats good enough for 10th overall in the comp, and 4th outright in the C grade leaderboard.

8460.webp

More than the comp result though, I'm so happy with my personal golf development. Really felt the improvement today and hit some of the best shots of my life.

I shit the bed on two holes, which both registered a score of ten strokes. If I can clean that up, I'm well within range of breaking 100!

After today, my handicap has come in... 30.8! Yewwww.

****ing love this dumb game.

18 holes tonight. 5 over. 1 birdie. That's 39 points I think. TBH no real highlights. 12 GIR. Just very consistent all round. Putting could've been a bit better but on another day they go in. Plenty of good putts didn't drop. I'll take that score every day of the week.

86 off the stick today, Nett 71 after hcp. Great news is hcp has gone up to 19 from 15. Big chance to win next week.

So you’ve had the equivalent of 37 points and your handicap blows out by 4?
Something doesn’t compute.

12 GIR is outstanding- that’s better than scratch marks average(58%).

You're right. They re-established hcps using WHS at the start of this year, taking our first 5 rounds as the indicator. I had some decent rounds where my hcp went from 28 to 15. So, from this week they went back 20 rounds to average our scores. Hope this makes sense. I'm more comfortable playing off 19, feels about right.

Good thing to keep in mind is that we are only meant to play to our handicap or better around 20% of the time.

It’s also a measure of your absolute peak, not what you shoot each time you step out.

Must say(as a mid-50yo chopper) I prefer the old system. Each time you miss your hcp - something like you go out 0.2(I think?) whenever you missed your mark and you come in by 0.1/2/3(depending on mark) for every shot you beat your hcp.

I know it didn’t translate to other courses but I think it made for higher handicaps but more times you beat your mark.

Although maybe even go one step further when the club handicapper was the sole judge!
