My story is pretty tame by comparison -

My late grandmother was fairly convinced that there was a ghost in her old house. She'd tell stories of things that were moved around and the like, I indulged in it with her, mostly because I didn't want to tell her I thought she was just forgetting that she'd moved things herself etc

One day though I was with her in the house I certainly got a pretty weird/creepy feeling. The door that led from the kitchen into the hallway was always notoriously hard to open. Had to really put your shoulder into it to open it because the wood had warped and it jammed against the floor.

Anyway, the door was shut, and it just suddenly busted wide open with a thud - It took us both by surprise, because it had definately been shut. The creepiest thing was that the cat was standing in the middle of the kitchen floor, back arched right back and all its hair standing on ends, staring right at the door. Then it pissbolted in the other direction and out the kitchen window to outside.

My nanna looked at me and smiled and said 'oh, it's just the ghost... it's friendly but it can startle you sometimes'

After that I certainly tended to believe my nanna's stories a bit more than I had previously. Interestingly enough, a couple of years later they had renovations in the house that changed the layout of the kitchen and adjacent loungeroom - She said she never felt the ghost presence again after that -

In 1985, when I was a very young Soldier I was the gunner for my section. That entailed carrying a machine gun (M-60) and a few hundred blank rounds.

On the first exercise with my new Bn, I was stood too at dusk, dutifully looking over my sights just in case the Musurian Liberation Army decided to attack. I have to educate you a little here - the gun is the last thing to fire, you don't want the bad guys to know where it is, and if you have grenades, it's better to use them than firing any rifle, because the opposition cant see you throw a grenade but can see your muzzle flash if you shoot. As this was the eighties, we where also using 1st gen NVG.

Anyhow, a few minutes before dusk, my#2 pointed out a "moving bush", we assumed it was the enemy scouting us. We did the right thing and alerted the pit next to us, and our Section Commander behind, all without making a noise. As dusk turned to dark, the enemy got a little bolder, and the pit next to us got the nod to throw a "grenade" (a whizz bang). When the grenade simulator went off, I had my head down as I was wearing NVG's, but when I lifted my head, 3 very large fuzzy figures popped up. We followed our ROE, and gave another 2 tugs on our comms cord. which meant we are getting close to firing(aka HELP!) . At that signal, out Sect Commander lit up our ambush light (a white flare mounted on a tree) - when that flare lit up, I knew we had an issue.

I only had blanks, but I let rip, my training must have been good because I fired my 50 rd belt off in short bursts, and one of the guys in the next pit threw another wizz bang and that's when we got a good look at what we had assumed was a couple of Soldiers in ghilllie suits - lets say 7 foot tall and 2 pick handles across the shoulders, reddish full body hair, a flat face with a boxers nose, no discernible ears, and a scream that no man could imitate. One ran through our harbor, and it wasn't one of our colleagues playing a joke.

Needless to say, the 12 of us spent a very uncomfortable night wishing our rounds were real :)

have a huge interest in anything ghost ufo or secret society wise
have been collecting books over the years and would have 30 or 40 just on ufos

saw plenty of stuff as a kid but nothing as an adult
can remember things moving in the old house we lived in over in the UK, seeing the old man who first owned the house.
i also have a vivid memory of being too scared to sleep because little monsters were after me (mustve been around 7 years old) couldnt sleep and felt like something was in the room with me but i couldnt see it but i could hear shuffling
can also remember looking out my window in the middle of the night and seeing lights buzz away in the sky after numerous 'monster' encounters described above and having a feeling of sadness that someone was leaving
totally diff feeling from the presence feeling in the room

feels weird to admit it on a public forum but 15 years later i had an obsession with Alien Abductions and UFOs....

as ive got older i seem to have, not lost interest, but i dunno.....not really been obsessed with the subject as i was, say, ten years ago
i went thru a stage of scouring every second hand book shop monthly for old cheap books on anything that was classed as paranormal, ufos, abductions, ghosts, demonolgy, cyrptozoology (spelling) which then led me onto sybolism and secret society stuff along with freemasonry (33 degrees my ass!, do you think we are stupid????)
it got that bad i was just buying books on these subjects and placing them on the bookshelf in the study without even opening the covers
it was like i had a duty to collect this stuff because someone might need it one day

kinda weird but at the time it felt like i just had to do it

i still look up stuff now and then and read something that might peak the interest that ive got a book on the shelve about, but i just dont get the time to read everyday like i did years ago
if i didnt have to worry about a mortgage and all the general everyday 'life' stuff ive always wanted to get all the stuff ive collected over the years, sift thru it and collaborate all the good interesting stuff into a book of info and get it out there.

if anyone wants some good ufo books recommended ill take some photos so you know what they look like and you can hunt them down.

ps
i went the thru the Icke, Jones, Tsarion phase too, but you have to...because then you realize that they are paid shills.

peace :)

It is scary. I experienced something like this for years too. I'd wake up soon after I went to sleep with a jolt, but couldn;t move. Then all these negative thoughts would flood through my head, like they were being whispered in my brain. Then i'd remember a snatch of the experience later on. I know what it is, have for ages, but it's still an unpleasant thing to happen.
It's quite scary, I sometimes get it, simply feeling like I'm conscious but can't move or breathe is scary in itself. In hindsight I know what it is, but it doesn't dispel the fear and I always am trying to do everything to get some movement or breath out of body, until finally waking up fully. Have been accompanied by night terror as well before, feeling like I needed to hide from something but being unable to move. One annoying one I had recently was getting it just before going to sleep, I forced myself back wide awake because of it.

I have had two encounters:

1. At a house in the philippines which also happened to be the location of a murder suicide three years prior. Of course I didnt know this at the time! I was sleeping in a room with three other siblings when I got woken up in the middle of the night with my blanket hovering above me. I quickly jumped into my brother's bed and hid under his sheets. The next morning, outside the room, there were small footsteps markings on the wall but closer to the ceiling. We found out later that a toddler was hurled across that same room and beaten to death.

2. When I was living in brisbane, I would normally come home and have a hit of bat tennis against a brick wall at the side of my house. During one of these games, I suddenly stopped as I saw a man dressed in a suit looking at me through the bushes. As I was going through puberty, and growing muscles, I was confident enough to approach the man and knock his head off with the racquet. But as I approached, he disappeared. The weird part came the next morning; my grandmother was staying with us that night and she slept in my room. On the next day, she said she saw my dad all dressed up in a suit ready for work giving me a kiss in the morning. My dad was not in brisbane at the time.....

Totally freaked out!

1990 - world cup 1/4 final england vs cameroon. england, perennial underachievers against the lions of cameroon who took all before them. Led by evergreen Roger Miller the greens/reds/yellows were facing their second knockout game (after the round of 16 clash with colombia).

all week, the media were reporting of a cameroonian witch doctor casting spells and other forms of witchcraft on england. i was residing in the UK at teh time and was watching the game along with some friends who were of similar age. we were young and impressionable.

during the game the Indomitable Lions were enjoying a purple patch when miller came on. us fellas were sitting on a 3-4 seat sofa when the table lamp to our right started flickering violently.

was it the work of the witch doctor.....?

I've got two stories.

I was seeing a girl and after a while she told me that her house was haunted and that she didn't like it there at all, she said that windows and doors would open and shut when she was there on her own. I'm open to the idea of ghosts etc but I just fobbed this off. Later one friday night we went out, we had drinks at home and the coffee table in front of the couch was littered with empty cans. We headed out and then came home, not content the night was over we cracked open a few more drinks and sat on the couch. In front of us on the coffee table, a can of Guinness started to move, it went from side to side, nearly tipping right over on it's side each time it went down. We sat there, close enough to touch it, watching it move from side to side about 14 times getting quicker and quicker until it came to a complete stop. None of the other cans which surrounded it moved. I tried different ways to reproduce this but there was no way of tilting it over that much without it laying on it's side, let alone it being able to come back up. After that I heard the odd noise, like dishes clinking in the kitchen. It wasn't long before she moved out.

The sleep paralysis thing is interesting and terrifying. I had two instances of it, both times the "dream" was set in my current reality. I was in bed, I sat up staring at my window expecting to see something, a light flashed and I saw a silhouette staring back at me, i then woke up sitting up in bed staring out the window unsure if it was real or not. I then realised in my dream state the curtain was open where as it was actually closed, only way I was to know it was in my head. The second time i was lying in my bead and stuff was going on outside my bedroom door. Noise, lights flashing and i was paralysed, unable to move as hard as I tried. Eventually I woke up and flew out of the bed with force, nothing was going on and I realised I had had another episode of this. Funnily enough I told my girlfriend of the time about it. Later after telling her this we went to bed. She had just fallen asleep and suddenly woke up frightened, she had had her first sleep paralysis episode/scary dream set in current reality episode. Talk about the power of suggestion! The other time I was paralyses was during a dream where I ended up being shot in the head from point blank. So much for not being able to die in your dreams. Everything went blank, I felt a mild pain around my stomach and i was paralyses. Eventually it faded and I was able to wake up. I don't see this as paranormal but it has come up a lot on this thread.

im from the adelaide hills... little town called birdwood.
ill remember this forever.
my parents went away for a night and i stayed with family friends. they lived in an old stone place which was one of the first built in birdwood.
they had always told me their house was haunted by a soldier and his dog that died in the house shortly after he returned. unsure of his cause of death. they had always told me not to worry cos hes friendly.
this night in question it was pissing with rain.
i woke up to hear footsteps up the hallway and a dog panting. they footsteps stopped infront of my door but could still hear the dog. the stepped started again away from my door then stopped.
my being the smartarse little kid i was i jumped outta bed thinking mum and dads friend were messing me. i flicked the light on in the hallway to see noone but there was water on floorboards and the runner was damp.
seeing the light come on in the hallway my mums friend woke up and came to check on me and found me standing in the hallway. she asked what was wrong and i told her and she told me not worry that he was probably just curious as to who was sleeping in his sons room.
she reassured me he s friendly and said i should get some sleep.
i remember the bed felt extra warm when i got back into it like someone had put another blanket on me.
a nice experience and my only one so far

She didn't cause a scene at the time but I remember looking over and seeing her seize up mid-song. It wasn't until later that she told us on the way home. Mum just tried to calm her down and play it off as a nice thing as it was his Aunties birthday. Anyway she never saw him again so it did kind of seen like a goodbye of sorts.
My question is if he didnt jump, was he pushed... Was he murdered? Is there someone walking around who got away with his murder... Did your family look into that?

It's something that I have thought about a bit, but there was never anything said about that possibility.
It was always just assumed that if he didn't jump then he must have slipped, but all we have to go off was that 1 line which seems to have been said to give his family some peace of mind rather than open up a possible murder investigation.

I'm assuming an investigation took place at the time which is when they deemed it a suicide, so foul play must have been ruled out. None the less it happened in the 80's and I don't think the NSW police would open up a new investigation on the back of the deceased telling somebody he didn't jump haha..

awesome thread. Two stories first hand that could be para normal shit below;

When I was about 6 years old give or take, just before School started i guess, My mum put me to bed and walked away and then went to watch tv in the lounge on the other side of the house. It was apparently just myself and her home that night (Dad was truck driving somewhere over night). Anyway I noticed quite clearly what I thought was Mum standing at my door. The figure was wearing a gown/dress type thing and was clearly a woman and quite tall. I didn't take much notice of her and went to sleep not long after noticing, thinking it was mum just watching me. The next morning I asked mum why she was standing at my door watching me go to sleep. She adamantly said she didn't stand by my door once she went to the lounge room, and I was pleading with her blindly that she did (being a kid, you see what you see i guess). Anyway all this came to light in my mid teens when the subject was brought up about ghosts. This is a woman who doesn't believe a friggin thing about anything of this sort. She quickly told me the story of how I was asking confidently and enthusiastically her the next day of the lady standing by my door and that she was absolutely not doing this that night and couldn't explain it besides i was dreaming or seeing a shadow, it really stood out for her as a moment when she was second guessing what she believed in. On top of that when she mentioned this story i was agreeing with her and backing her up on this, vaguely remembering it all. It caused a big para-normal discussion in our house which before that was unheard of and frowned upon. It was clearly a 7 foot woman (as tall as a door frame) with a dressing gown on with long hair. It was shadowy and dark when i went to bed but the figure was almost glowing softly clearly visible to me. I guess at the time I took comfort from the figure guessing it was my mum standing there. I have no idea what it was and neither does she, the house was built new in the late 80s. I have guessed the shadow of things creating what I thought i saw and a few other things but it really stood out for me as something more than that. My grandma thinks it was my guardian angel and I have no idea if this guess she made is a religious thing or what. I tend to agree with her in a non religious sense. She is a non religious person to btw.

I will post another para normal experience when I get home, its about my grandma and a psychic that truly blew my mind when she told me. Well anyway this pyschic in the late 60s predicted (before my grandma was pregnant) that she would have a miscarriage to her first born son. Now whether it was a common thing in those days or not (miscarriages) to tell someone before they are pregnant that their future baby son will be born dead is a huge call. This happened about a year an a half later and baby Glenn was in fact going to be her first born son, died when delivered. My grandma to this day believes in psychics and goes to one every year or so. She also adamantly believes that the solar system influences human minds, like astrology in a way. Crazy shit yall. All i can say is there is def more than the eye can see.

im surprised you didnt shit yourself, i mean being young and aware/experienced the ghost!

the reaction of our family friend being so calm and not stressed etc would have calmed me down...
i was a pretty confident kid so i think i would have been more confused then anything about it... i also have a brother that 12 years my senior that used to get me to watch horror movies with him.

I'm keen to hear if anyone else has a UFO experience?

Just reading through the thread and your post stuck out for me, back in 03/04 some time when I was in early high school, my mum was out the front having a smoke and called my sister and I outside. There were 3 orange lights floating in the sky towards the east(I lived in Northern Adelaide at the time) They didnt appear to be attached to any kind of aircraft, as they just floated there and danced around eachother a bit. We phoned my aunty and uncle who lived close by and they went outside and saw them too. They seemed to move further away without really changing their positions too much, as they just faded out over a few minutes. But we were watching them for a good 10-15 minutes before that happened. Haven't seen anything like it before or since.
There is a RAAF base nearby, but it was in the complete opposite direction, and the planes that fly out of it are obviously quite different.

Another 'paranormal' thing that happened to me happened roughly 2 years before that last story(early 2001), my parents had split up roughly a year or so earlier when we were living in Melbourne, after that my mum, sister and I all moved back to Adelaide. While we were staying at my Aunty and Uncles house I was sleeping on the floor in the loungeroom, my sister was sleeping on the couch nearby. I woke up one morning while it was still fairly dark, I saw this dark round shape in front of my face, at the time I thought it was my sisters head, and she was taking the piss out of me and trying to wake me up, so i tried to swat her away and my hand went straight through it. I was a bit surpised by that so I popped my head up as the dark shape floated over to where my sister was still asleep(It was like a spherical black cloud, with wispy edges), it stopped briefly in front of her face(However she didn't wake up) and then floated around the corner into the kitchen. I got up and followed it into the kitchen(probably 10-15 seconds behind it) but there was nothing in there.

My grandparents had a group experience with a "ghost" on a highway up in the Mallee.

My mother had a very real and close encounter with a "UFO" which was seen by many people on the same evening.

Our family also experienced the concept of the Banshee with tragic consequences.

That's what got me interested in the topics and has me believing somethings happening we can't explain.
if you want your allowed to go on
