Alright boys and girls, time to put your AFL foresight to the test. Let's get some predictions for the game.

I'll start it off. Here's my predictions.

1. The Swans will win by between 5-20 (we'll call it 17)
2. Despite what some hopeful Swans fans are thinking, Jetta won't kick a goal (wont really mind if I'm wrong here)
3. TDL will kick 2 goals
4. Goodes will tear them apart all over the ground and be BOG
5. The commentators will mention how much Freo are missing Sandilands at least 3 times during the coverage
6. Shaw will have a very good and influential game
7. Kieren Jack will have a quiet one, after being well kept
8. Jesse White will be the dominant forward on the ground, and kick a bag (at least 4)

You blokes will never get a better opportunity to belt us at Subi.
Injuries have decimated the side that played you earlier in the year.

Our moment in the sun faded when Barlow went down, but hey, that's footy and every club has their fair share of injuries.

Righto, i think we will bounce back from last weeks debacle, Goodes will tear us a new one*, Zac Clarke will show he can cut it at this level and Freo to fall over the line in a tight one ..:thumbsu:

* for a fooking change

1. Swans win by lets say 21.
2. Mumford will nominate the match and play his best match of his career.
3. TDL will kick a couple but Jetta will also kick one goal.
4. ROK and Goodes will destory the midfield.
5. Grundy will hold Pavlich under two goals.
6. Jesse White will be Sydneys highest goal scorer and will dominate.

6. Jesse White will be Sydneys highest goal scorer and will dominate Tarrant.
In Tarrant's defence, he is under the considerable handicap of trying to spoil White from the grandstands.

1. Mumford will spank Clarke. Bradley will play decently to well
2. Jetta will have about 15 disposals at ~70% efficiency, and be roundly praised on this board. He will kick a goal.
3. Shaw will improve his possession numbers, and turn the ball over repeatedly.
4. Dennis-Lane will kick a couple of goals, but not have sustained influence.
5. White will drop gettable marks as usual.
6. Pavlich and McVeigh will play their best games of the past month.
7. Fremantle by 10
8. Goodes will play well, but isn't best on ground
9. Hannebery plays a very good game and is amongst our best

1.Mcphee will try to rough up Goodes from the beginning
2.Grover will try to rough up someone
3.Jetta will do speccy runs down the wings and score a few(2-3)
4.TDL to get2-3
5.Jude to score a few
6. Malceski + Tadhg to be influential
7. Stephen Hill to be tightly tagged or we will have probs.
8. If it's wet Jude to be BOG
9. Swannies by 2 goals
10. Mummy to dominate, because he can.

our team is pretty much limping towards...., well one win from 3 and we will limp into a home final.
i hate to say excuses and all this but we are right in saying injuries have smashed our team. we are running at just over 50% of our ideal team.
When were not playing our
small forward(balla)- 2nd leading goalscorer for freo
best midfield(barlow)- def on track for AA and a absolute gun
fullback(tarrant)- Close to AA if only for that darn lake person :p

PLus the starting 22 of Mayne, Sandi, Silvagni, head , palmer, crowley, and a few others on the verge our team is pretty much a shadow of rounds 1-11\

having said that, we really do seem to have quality kids coming through and we play like a bitch at home only losing to collingwood (lost 2 defenders in first half after a 6 day break to brisbane) and St Kilda , this game will probs be pretty even

my predictions
1. Hill will play one amazing quater and 3 quiet ones to rack up 20 possie
2.mumford will smash us at hitouts and around the groud
but clearances will be even
3. Jack to play BOG
4.Pav to play 80% of midfield to leave our forward in disarray
5. broughton duffield to play amazing games
6. crowd of 35k
7. Umpiring to give away 3 goals to each side but home fans complain about bad umpiring
8.close until final 5 minutes in which one goal is kicked to win the game
(not sure which side :S)
9. Walters to play amazing :)

1. Mumford will be in our top 5, but not necessarily BOG.
2. Hanners will have 25+ disposals and 4+ inside 50s
3. Jack will be solid but not brilliant.
4. Goodes will run rampant.
5. Pav will be in and out of the game, but do some damage.
6. Grundy will let Pav get away one or two too many times to have a "good" defensive game, but will make up for it on the rebound.
7. Richards will be decent-poor, but on poor opposition, so it won't be too noticeable.
8. Both Kirk and his opponent will have less than 15 touches.
9. Jetta will kick a goal.
10. White will kick 2 goals, but create at least 3 more.
11. The margin will be 20-30, whoever wins.

We know your suffering injury and any other game i'd be sorry for you. Normally I like to beat the best but Sandi's too hughe for us to combat so we'll take it while we've got it.

The next question, how come West Aussies and SA people know how good Jack is but Victorians (swans aside) have a clue who he even is.

1. Jetta to kick at least 2 goals and have over 15 disposals.
2. White to drop gettable marks, kick one goal, and be criticised after the match by Roos.
3. Malceski to dominate off half-back and drift up field and kick at least one goal.
4. McVeigh to have his best game of the year.
5. Goodes to have a quiet one and only kick one goal due to poor accuracy.
6. ROK to continue his good form and rack up over 25 disposals.
7. Kirk to have more than 5 tackles.
8. TDL to kick between 2-5 goals.

JESSELENKO :diamond: to slay the foul who fulfil our ranks.
Jetstar set free from his bonds.
Reg to earn most possessions.

S. Hill to show yet again that he should have been No.1 pick in 2008.

1. Swans to win by about 4 goals
2. Goodes to kill it - best on ground
3. Ted Richards to step up another level and play a ripper
4. Mike Pyke will kick a goal
5. Pav, Mundy and Suban to be the best Freo players
6. Jetta will kick 2.0
7. J.Bolton to top the contested possessions
8. White will take a hanger and kick 3.2

Adam Goodes quote during the week: "We really have to come to over to Perth and play exactly the style of football we played last week, winning the contested ball, giving ourselves plenty of opportunities to score."

based on that, I am predicting a massive loss
hopefully its not us.

(Log in to remove this ad.)

1. Jetta to kick 3
2. TDL to kick 4
3. Jack BOG
4. Swans to win by 38
5. Goodes to get at least one stupid 50m call for blinking at the wrong moment
6. Jetta's family to be a focal point for camera and commentators alike - expect regular pans to their faces
7. Mattner to collide with a goal post in tragicomedic circumstances

1. Pyke to kick 2:0
2. Jetts to kick 2:2
3. Swans to kick 16:10
4. Fremantle to kick 11:14
5. Swans to win by what ever that difference works out to be.

That was my dream last night. Get on board!

After looking at Freos current injury/omissions I may be getting a touch carried away but.

1. Swans to win by 45+
2. Mumford to dominate, not only in hitouts but to have 10 tackles+
3. Pyke to also dominate hitouts.
4. Swans to kill it at the clearences, getting atleast 60% of them
5. Goodes to get BoG
6. Jack to have a quieter game, but kick 2 goals whilst keeping his opponent out of the match.
7. White to show the sort of form he did last year and kick a bag of 5 or more.
8. Pav to be brought into the midfield to arrest a flow of goals only leave their forward line undermanned.

(also perfect day for footy sofar)

I dreamt last night that Jetta kicked 5, so i got up, went down to the pub to put 10 bucks on him to kick the most goals, thinking that would pay huuuge!! he isnt even listed! surely a half forward would e on the list to kick the most goals. anyway, i ended up putting it on player not listed at $9. so bring on the $90!!!! O and mummy will run wild and break Jollys record for most hitouts:thumbsu:

Ok ....(usually hate these predictulations;)) but just so I can see how I go?

1. After Roosy pumping up McGlynns 'tyres' during the week ,it will go one of two ways either...he absolutely blitzs it?... or is quiet with extra tagging type attention. My guess is the latter!

2.Pav will have to play one of his best for Freo to win. Grundy (with support from Mal and Tagdh) will have to play out of their skin when he goes forward. Will be Gundys biggest mental test so far! He now has the ability and calmness under pressure to hold him to 3 or 4:thumbsu:

3.Stating the somewhat obvious ...but Swans will need a great start and kick straight early as the gruelling game effort last week, the travel and big ground will take it's toll late in the game. Jetta to kick 3-4 straight through!!!! ...in front of 'bros' on home turf!

4. Jesselenko will finally have the space to take (grabs) clean... will be his best game this year.

5. Keiren will be targeted. Their (Freo's) tainted footy credibility rests on at least stopping him. Expect a wrestle ....or full on punch up... I'll back Keiren Jack any day:D

6. If Swans not up by at least 16+ points at 3/4 time.... then Freo will win by 22.

Of course ....I'm backing Swans by 8 points! Go Swannies!!

1. Pyke to kick 2:0
2. Jetts to kick 2:2
3. Swans to kick 16:10
4. Fremantle to kick 11:14
5. Swans to win by what ever that difference works out to be.

That was my dream last night. Get on board!

1. 1:0
2. 1:1
3. 14:12
4. 13:9

Not too bad! : )

1. Mumford will be in our top 5, but not necessarily BOG.
Pretty much bang on, vying for BOG with Jack and Hanners.
2. Hanners will have 25+ disposals and 4+ inside 50s
Let me down on the inside 50 front, but helped me out on the disposal front. I was getting at him having a big day, and he did, so we'll call this correct. :)
3. Jack will be solid but not brilliant.
Nup. He was brilliant.
4. Goodes will run rampant.
Nup. He was quiet.
5. Pav will be in and out of the game, but do some damage.
Yep. Had some great touches through the middle, but overall lacked presence.
6. Grundy will let Pav get away one or two too many times to have a "good" defensive game, but will make up for it on the rebound.
Well, in the end Pav spent the entire game in the midfield, but replace Pav with McPhee and it's bang on.
7. Richards will be decent-poor, but on poor opposition, so it won't be too noticeable.
Nup. Richards was very good.
8. Both Kirk and his opponent will have less than 15 touches.
Who did Kirk play on? I didn't notice that matchup. Anyway, at best, half marks, as Kirky finished up with 18 touches?
9. Jetta will kick a goal.
Yep. :)
10. White will kick 2 goals, but create at least 3 more.
Kicked 1 goal and created 2 by my reckoning. Not too wrong, but not right either.
11. The margin will be 20-30, whoever wins.
Nup. Great close game.

Eh. I did alright.

I shouldn't really get any points for #5, its like predicting the sun will rise tomorrow. You can make an argument that Shaw improved on his past 3 games, but 11 disposals isn't enough for me to claim that one as a success.

Alright, let's see how everyone did, starting with me.

1. The Swans will win by between 5-20 (we'll call it 17)
Correct: I picked the margin of the win, the exact points is just for bonus
2. Despite what some hopeful Swans fans are thinking, Jetta won't kick a goal (wont really mind if I'm wrong here)
Incorrect: Jetta kicked one goal, and was influential in the final quarter
3. TDL will kick 2 goals
Correct: Even though one of them really belongs to Moore. TDL really helps our structure a lot though, I want him in the team from now on.
4. Goodes will tear them apart all over the ground and be BOG
Incorrect: Comprehensively wrong. Wasn't in our best 10.
5. The commentators will mention how much Freo are missing Sandilands at least 3 times during the coverage
Incorrect: They may have mentioned three times during the period of the Sandi interview (and I'm not certain they did) but it wasn't a focal point of commentary as I thought it would be.
6. Shaw will have a very good and influential game
Incorrect: Thought his game was fairly bad. Gave away a few horrible free kicks and butchered a few early.
7. Kieren Jack will have a quiet one, after being well kept
Incorrect: Once again, monumentally wrong. Jack was BOG in my opinion.
8. Jesse White will be the dominant forward on the ground, and kick a bag (at least 4)
Incorrect: Kicked an important one late, but that only served to mask quite a poor game

Despite two pretty good individual predictions, you would have to say this is a spectacularly poor set of predictions.

Righto, i think we will bounce back from last weeks debacle
Correct: Certainly a better game from Freo than the performance put in against North
Goodes will tear us a new one
Incorrect: Goodes had a quiet one
Zac Clarke will show he can cut it at this level
Incorrect: Clarke got absolutely owned, and Freo looked far more vulnerable every time he was on the ground
and Freo to fall over the line in a tight one ..:thumbsu:
Incorrect: The Swans won a tight one

I'm going to put this set of predictions next to mine, not many right here. But it's good to see visitors from other boards in the prediction thread, adds a bit of variety.

1. Swans win by lets say 21.
Half/Half: You picked the winner but not the margin.
2. Mumford will nominate the match and play his best match of his career.
Half/Half: He did dominate the match, but I don't think it was the best game of his career.
3. TDL will kick a couple but Jetta will also kick one goal.
Correct: Absolutely spot on, on both fronts. This is a very good prediction.
4. ROK and Goodes will destory the midfield.
Incorrect: Both ROK and Goodes had quiet games, and little impact, despite ROK's late goal.
5. Grundy will hold Pavlich under two goals.
Half/Half: I was going to give this incorrect, because I don't think Grundy spent much, if any, time on Pavlich. But Pavlich was held to under two goals (I don't recall him kicking any, to be honest), so I'm going to give this a half/half.
6. Jesse White will be Sydneys highest goal scorer and will dominate.
Incorrect: McGlynn was the top goal scorer for the Swans, and White had little impact (despite the late goal).

This was a pretty good set of predictions. Only one clearly right, but most of the others were in the ballpark too.
