The Pies have been involved in some cracking Prelims in times not too distant.

2007 vs Cats
I remember screaming so loudly when Didak kicked that miracle over-the-head shot being dragged to put us in front I nearly passed out. An absolute scorcher of a final even if we didn't win

2010 vs Cats
The sweet sweet smell of GF action awaited us after a blazing Q1 where Leigh Brown made the ball turn at 90° angles, Travis was clunking and some fierce tackling stopped Cats in their tracks

2002 vs Crows
THAT kick from Anthony Rocca that brought the house down and nearly blew out the light tower bulbs with the loudness of the crowd's roar.

What's everyone else's favourites? Recent or otherwise!

2010 was watching it at the local. Sitting there dawning on me that we were going to the big dance. I called my friend that worked at AFL at the time and told them I didn’t care what it took I wanted a ticket. 2 grand finals later, the rest was history ;)

2002 Only my 2nd game at the G.
Drove down from Sydney Saturday morning. 3am start I think.
Sat high in the Olympic Stand ? Wooden benches from memory. Jammed all 6"5" of me in there.
Knees around a Crow supporters ears. Boy they were smug bunch of knobs.
And didn't we give it to em after the siren. Sang the song all the way back to the car.
Stopped off for a 6 pack of travellers and the place was decked out in B&W.
Drove back to Albury that night to get home for a Pennants Golf final.
We won that one too..

C’mon, 2011 vs Haw. Epic I already quarter. I’ve wayxhed it too many times, even though I know what happened the following week after 3/4 time.

Don’t care what people say. Premierships are great, but not the be all end all. Finals football and epic results are etched in my memory forever.

2002 Prelim against the Crows I remember extremely well as a young fella, Rupert Betheras kicked a couple of clutch goals.

Obviously 2010 against the Cats, comfortably the best performance I've ever seen us as a football club produce.

2010 vs Geelong
Absolute bliss with the first half annihilation, especially after they had thrashed us the year before.
Leigh Brown's off-break bouncing goal topped things off.
So excited at half time that I couldn't even text properly with shaky hands.

2002 v Adelaide - Ryan Lonie running through the middle taking a few bounces and putting it on Rocca's chest about 60m out. He then flushes the perfect drop punt straight through the middle.

2010 v Geelong - Ben Johnson sidestepping Cameron Ling and kicking his trademark left foot goal on the run. Brought the house down.

2011 v Hawthorn - That tackle from Dale Thomas running down Cyril in the last minute of the game was insane. That and Travis Cloke's huge pack mark and goal in the last stick out for me.

It was called the 2nd Semi in 1990 against flag favourites Essendon

Sunny day. End of 3rd Qtr
Collingwood applying intense team pressure
Essendon's Derek Kickett panics on the back flank, loses possession. Scott Russell swoops in and sinks a running goal from the just inside 50.

It doesn't sound particularly special. But anyone who was there will remember this moment vividly. It was the moment that every supporter as one realised that the drought may be soon be broken.

Oh I remember it well! Kickett ran in a circle on D50 before Russell swooped on him and the ball and slammed the first nail in their coffin.

2007. The one that got away. Still I knew we were in for good things to come the following years.

A bunch of remnants from the 2002-03 era, and a bunch of big hearted rookie listed kids and youngsters leading the charge. Players like Maxwell, Pendles, Thomas, Clarke, OBrien, Shaw, Cloke, Toovey, and Rusling all taking it up to arguably the best team we've seen in many years.

Made the cats earn that one that night in over time. They went on to destroy Port the next week in GF. We would've won easily vs Port if we had ever got up that night.

2007, clearly not my fav Prelim, but my most memorable.

Special mentions to 2002, 2003, 2010, 2011.

Yeah 2010 - smacking the Cats at that point was like a dream. I had a family wedding on that night and was sneaking score checks throughout and could not believe my eyes. Largely thanks to my young son I would think it's my most watched CFC game ever - never gets old.

2010, a near faultless performance by the team and 80k Pies fans (out of 98k, Cats fans didn't turn up) in full voice. We just knew. The chanting was like angels singing in a heavenly choir. Freezing cold night too, and Metallica sitting stupefied in the stands.

2011 was the most tense game I've ever been to. When the siren went, I hugged the stranger next to me, who had tattoos all over his face. Footy's like that.

2007 was notable for me because I couldn't get in. Arrived at 6.15 at the MCC members gate, to be told it was a lock out. So I went home.:(

2011 is my all time favourite game.

Amazing.

2018 is my favourite Prelim,
when we beat Richmond
sending us to the 2018 Grand Final.

:D:D:D

2011 is my all time favourite game.

Amazing.

It's irrational, but I've got a grudge against our 2011 season. The whole year felt complacent, and that prelim was one of the most frustrating games I've ever watched. I was glad we won, in tears in fact...but weirdly frustrated at the same time.

On the other hand, if we play sluggish but manage to steal this year's prelim with a few seconds to spare, there will be nothing but ecstasy!

The Maxwell tackle on Rooke in the first quarter is my favourite Collingwood play of all time. I had the opportunity to ask Maxy personally what was going through his mind at that moment and his response makes it even better. :)
