Since I like badges, have a couple of pics of my current ride. Day one when I picked it up from the dealer...

...and it's first road trip down to Denmark, Western Australia. It was not an entirely comfortable or uneventful trip.

Love it to bits, but it's similar to a high maintenance girlfriend, let's put it that way.

Can't leave us hanging there...

Got a puncture (no fault of the car there, but it was really difficult to find a spare on Boxing Day in regional WA, obviously), but I also found out my car (or maybe all Mercedes AMGs) aren't exactly built for ride comfort, and WA regional roads don't use the quietest or smoothest tarmac around.

It's great for city driving, but far from a grand tourer.

2016 Audi S6 Prestige
Bit long in the tooth now but for a V8 Twin Turbo that they tuned down... its very nice all things considered.
The best car I had was the 25th Anniversary S4 number 18 of 250. That NA V8 and the 6 speed manual was just epic.

Loved that damn car.

Ooft a tough thread for me. This ‘beauty’ is my 2013 Holden Barina… My first car and was bought long before I had gotten in to cars. She’s cost me almost as much in repairs as the thing cost to buy. Fortunately this shit box was the thing that inspired me to learn more about cars to avoid this happening again and now I’ve fallen in love, maybe it was a good thing. First House was finally purchased a couple months ago so now a new upgrade is on the horizon very soon! 😍

Reminds me of the Barina we owned back in the early ‘00’s.
It wasn’t your Asian built version, but the Spanish built Opel version.
Ours was a dark gold coloured SRi. An absolute dream to drive with its upgraded 1.8ltr engine in a light 3 door hatch configuration, ”short” shift 5 speed gearbox, sports suspension and body kit.
You could throw it around with confidence.
My greatest memory was the look on the faces of V8 Commodore drivers off the lights. Because it had much more power than the asthmatic 1.4ltr that was normally installed in Barina’s, and was half the weight of the Commodore, the first 100-150 metres left them in the dust. You could see the faces torturing in your rear view mirror, trying desperately to get that weight up to speed. They simply couldn’t believe it. By the 200mtr mark though…..

Hey Motor Board, I’m happy to say that for the first time since my early 20s I have a new (to me) car that I’m actually quite fond of and not just an A to B daily driver.

Top trim, sparkly paint. Loads of luxury features that are too good for a pleb like me.

So did I just get a 25 year old plush doll from the other side of the world to use as a sight gag because it matches my avatar? Yeah kinda, but I also did it because I’m keen for one of them special Stig badges, what do you say Nuggs Bunny?

Yeah we've got two diesel cars. Feeling the pinch when having to fill those tanks...
I filled up at 1.64 and then topped up at 2.53 (35L). Since then, done 80kms and got 10l in the jerry can from when it was 1.65L!

I reckon i have 8 weeks in the tank before i need to really worry about filling up again. Could be $5 then

Its kind of pleasing to see Australian diesel prices finally catch up to normal everday French fuel prices, and even more pleasing to see the outrage. You dont know how cheap your fuel is!!!

Anyway. Got to drive an Xpeng G9 off the showroom floor today and drive it 300 Kms from Montpellier to Cannes. My bosses new ride. Insanely fast when you want it to be and a bit of a speed trap. I couldnt notice the difference from 120 to 140 kms. And then to accelerate from 110 to 170 was a few seconds.

We pick up a new Hyandui Kona Electric on thursday, for us. Nice looking 2nd car for local travels. Keep the diesel car for when we want to save money.
