I think players that are fully priced at this age are a big risk.
I would expect the majority of these guys will miss games with soft tissue injuries or "The General" during the year.
Would rather spend my money where I thought I would get 22 games and an increase in average scores.

So how many keepers are you starting with Funk?

I'm 50/50 on Bartel
Swan is in my team for the time being, that price tag is way too juicy to ignore, my only worry is that Buckley will actually play him up forward.

Edit: Another rule I have started following is try to pick players from the better teams ASAP. Often they will deliver better scores due to higher disposal EFF% and thus grab another 10-20pts here and there.

It certainly does not. I agree with the rule, however if your team is a top 4 team you can seriously consider it. Hawks/Sydney/Port/Geelong etc.
Anyone else, forget it. By the time the season starts I predict myself to only have 3 Port starting players. Ryder, Wines & Gray.

Why are you risking having Ryder in your side when he is going on a 2 yr holiday.

For every 1 x Boomer I could quote you plenty of Ryan Griffen/Daniel Wells/Jobe Watsons etc of 2014.
Put them in your team if you want but they wont be in mine.

- If you have to convince yourself that a player is worth it just because he fits into the price range you want - ITS MEANS HE ISN'T WORTH IT.

You can justify anything you want, doesn't mean its going to happen.

If you are finding yourself going to crazy lengths to justify a player, then don't get him.

Newnes is in this category for me. Only caught a few of his games last year, didn't think he was terrible, but didn't really start to consider him until they released the s*%t storm that is defense this year.

Still trying to work out if I have done enough research to justify him, or I am just trying really hard to justify him, and breaking my rule.
