My thought on a Port Adelaide best 23 with current ages

• Key position defenders a real BIG problem, rely on team defence which is ok when we’re winning the midfield battles and pressure the ball carrier. Good small-medium def with squad depth
• Mids look well balanced and on the youthful side except Boak. Hayes is a good “almost” first ruck but Ken won’t play him over Lycett or Finlayson. Yet.
• Forwards look balanced and Marshall/Georgiades will form a great double act for many years to come. Dixon possibly final year. Fantasia and Rioli should form a great small forward presence but unlikely to get 22 games between the two of them to be honest.

It's why we went so hard for Ratagolea, and it's gonna be a problem.

I can see Finlayson potentially becoming a Westhoff type floater when Lycett is back as 1st ruck. Could thrive as the spare down back taking intercept marks when opponents get a run on.

Not a big name line up and pretty inexperienced so agree they’ll likely be bottom 6.

But
Greene a top 5 small forward
Taylor a top 5 key defender

Whitfield, coniglio, Kelly capable of having very good years, although haven’t consistently done so.

Green and ash highly talented and at the right age to truly break out.

Callaghan, cadman super youngsters that will have good games.

Will pinch a few unexpected wins. But can’t see them being consistently competitive.

Our team should be a lot better in 2023 with the addition of Jones and Lobb and the added evelopment of Baz, JUH, West and Sam Darcy. Our wings could be a bit of an issue. Hunter, Dunkley and Cordy out.

Funnily enough, GWS is starting to have teams with less top 10 picks than before. This team still has alot, but a few have their draft position as their main claim to fame unfortunately.
