At Sydney Matthew Nicks is shaping up to be most likely to succeed Paul Kelly.

Howver if Jude Bolton continues to develope into the fearless champion I think he can be - then Nicks may get passed over in favour of the younger guy.

Either would be outstanding candidates.

Go Eagles
You have to be kidding, 5 years is a long time in football.
How can you think that far ahead, you don't even know who will be in your team then.
You can speculate on who will be your next captain, but even that is hard because of injuries, form drop off & trades.

Eagles suck. Richmond rule.

P.S I have no damn idea who will captain Richmond in 2005 but Campbell, Ottens and
Broderick would be my favourites.

As a Crows fan, I reckon Mark Ricciuto will be our captain, but if he doesn't last the distance, probably Simon Goodwin. I reckon Brett Burton should be in there too.

However, if, as they say, a week's a long time in football, FIVE YEARS is a millenium!

I reckon Collingwood's captain will probably be either Chris Tarrant/Josh Fraser/Rhyce Shaw/Rupert Betheras.

My predictions for captains in 2005. There may be a few surprises!

Adelaide: Andrew McLeod
Brisbane: Michael Voss
Carlton: Lance Whitnall
Collingwood: Nathan Buckley
Essendon: Matthew Lloyd
Fremantle: Paul Haselby
Geelong: Clint Bizell
Hawthorn: Trent Croad
Kangaroos: Leigh Colbert (if fit!)
Melbourne: Shane Woewodin
Port Adelaide: Warren Tredrea
Richmond: Marc Dragacevic
St Kilda: Max Hudghton
Sydney: Michael O'Loughlin
West Coast: Ben Cousins
Western Bulldogs: Scott West

In 2005, I would think Neitz would still be playing. After Neitz I will go for Brad Green. He will be about 25 years of age. This guy has great potential. Very exciting.

For Collingwood, I think it might be Chris Tarrant.

Hey Magpie Mark,

In your list of captains, you mentioned Scott West to be the captain for the Dogs! Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't he just retire??

Thanks TigerTuff, I wasn't far off. I knew it was one of the Scott W's, just couldn't remember which one!

P.S. Not that I give a shit who is the Dogs Captain in 5 years!

Tim Watson named James Begley as a future captain which is a fair wrap for a 19/20 year old that has only played 9 games and already suffered from 3 shoulder dislocations.

Don't you hate it when your club has a young kid with an enormous future but whose career has been struck down by injuries. Add Jason Cripps to that list too.
