Not enough love for Resident Evil 4 here imo, have people just not played it?
Great game, but trying to fit it into a top 10 is difficult.

RE 1 stands out for me, I remember that first zombie eating someone and it turns around and smiles.. holy s**t and the dog that junks through the window early on.. I jumped so high. Oh and the bs only Jill starts with a gun.

Fair effort, but you've listed Waker listed twice. Do yourself a favour and play through the Bioshock series, going by the games in your top 50 you'll love it and have 1 and/or 3 shoot right near the top of the list.

Also half-life. Although graphics might be challenging these days.

That's why I left it off, but you can always Black Mesa a go, just have to keep in mind it is a fan remake of HL, so there are parts which lack the Valve polish.

most of my top 10 are much older games, as I haven't been heavily into gaming since the heyday of the PS2 and original xbox

1. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
2. Battletoads (NES)
- I've been playing this recently on Xbox One ("Rare Replay") and I'm amazed at how well it holds up today. This game was an absolute masterpiece back in the day, and is still fun to play and insanely challenging. I just marvel at what the devs back then were able to accomplish with the 8-bit technology they had at the time.
3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (MEGA DRIVE)
4. Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
5. Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES)
6. Pilotwings (N64)
- this seems to be one of the most underplayed and underappreciated games out there. I never see this game in anyone's top 10, yet I feel it was the best N64 game. Incredibly fun, challenging and immersive, and the replay value was just astonishing with all the unlockable content and medals to earn.
7. Goldeneye 007 (N64)
8. Zelda: OoT (N64)
9. Fable: The Lost Chapters (Xbox)
10. Timesplitters 2 (Gamecube)

Honorable mentions: Banjo Kazooie (N64), Donkey Kong 64 (N64), 1080 Snowboarding (N64), Lylat Wars (N64), Ufouria (NES), Digger T.Rock (NES), Wizards & Warriors 3 (NES), Doom (Xbox One), Starcraft

Is #28 the N64 Perfect Dark or the Xbox 360 version?

I see perfect dark (the N64 title I presume) in a lot of people's top 10, but I think it's one of the most overrated FPS games out there. It was a vastly inferior game to goldeneye 007. Although PD was better in some technical aspects, and perhaps more innovative, it was nowhere near as much FUN as goldeneye. Remember in goldeneye, when you would get into a firefight and hordes of enemy soldiers would come from seemingly out of nowhere...and you'd end up in a room crowded full of enemy soldiers, and you would put your back to the wall and blast away at everything in sight until they were all dead. Not so in perfect dark. Although the enemy AI in goldeneye was really bad, that's part of what made it so much fun. It was a delicious joy to sneak up behind an enemy soldier, stand right behind them and watch them look around/swat flies etc, completely oblivious to your presence, before you take them out with a karate chop. Well, these aspects of the game and more were lost in Perfect Dark - it felt like Rare had sucked all the soul out of the game to create a product that looked and sounded better on the surface, but had lost the essence that made goldeneye so much fun.

Although, I actually like PD on Xbox 360 and think it's a much better game than the N64 version.

I’m referring to the N64 version because that’s what I mainly played.

I agree that Goldeneye was much better. PD lacked the magic, epic music and fun that Goldeneye delivered.

Personally felt Wizards & Warriors 3 was the weakest in the series while Ironsword was far and away the best.

I barely played ironsword so I can't really comment. I remember watching my brother playing it and it looked good, but I hardly played it myself.
