I went bowling a few years ago with some mates, and we each made up the other persons name (had to include origins of actual name), so that was when benrick was born.

No one actually call me benrick in real life... it is good for internet tho, cos no one else ever has it.

Hi guys

Dont post on this board much, so I thought I'd give it a go.

My name here on Bigfooty is basically self explanitory - I just wanted a nickname that when people saw it they'd know exactly who i barracked for - so I came up with GFC MAD!

On Cats Claw, my name is LemmeCsum1963. I got that from a banner I saw someone in the crowd holding up in a night game at the MCG in the mid-ninety's saying 'Come on Geelong! Let Me See Some 1963!!' Thought it was quite catchy, so I abbreviated that saying for my nickname.

As Jubs wrote earlier, Harry is a nickname I picked up in year 8. We had a new teacher who didn't know anyone's name so he made them up. He asked a question, pointed to me and said "Yeah you - Harry".

I didn't know that story.I thought it came about from something else.

Not sure, but it was either Rob Brown (an American from Colorado) or Ric Browne (former Cats & Roosters player).

'Keldar' was basically a name that I made up, having never heard of it before.

One night I saw an X Files episode (I believe it was "Jose Chung's UFO Story"), and there was this monster or 'alien' in the middle of the earth controlling everything. His name was Lord something beginning with a K.

Turns out it was Lord Kinbote. But Keldar stuck. Up until that time I was looking for an online nickname (this is back in 1996).

Funnily enough some time later there was a character called Keldar on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (one of my favorite shows at the time), the Ferengi father of our loveable bar owner, Quark, who incidently reminds me of that moron property millionaire guy.

And there is apparently a 'Kheldar' in some Wheel of Time book series by David Eddings, which I have never read, but are asked about every few months.

In my 'professional' life now many colleagues query how I've got a doman name of keldar.net but I usually don't elaborate as much as I did now.

my nick name is jacko (my real name is jackson) and i added the cats as i follow the cats. when registering this nick was recommended to me by rizzo

But anyway, in answer to your question. I stuck the thread because i felt is was the best way of getting as many responses as possible.

Numerous team boards here have similar threads, and most are also stuck by their moderators.

The thread was started as a way of keeping some things happening on the board during the bye week, and it worked.

Will be unstuck at some point, but at the moment, it's still serving its purpose.
