Docherty - add to midfield mix.
C Curnow, McKay and Jack Silvagni - become first choice forwards, play 15 each, can hold their own without Casboult
Weitering, Machbank and Plowman - play 15 together, can hold their own without Rowe
Sumner, Lamb - forward pressure and add to midfield mix
Cunningham - use his pace to provide outside run
Boekhorst - is running towards goal when he gets the ball in play (always running backwards and in circles)
Buckley - moves the ball on more quickly to advantage
Pickett - lives up to his talent
Kerridge, Graham - improve disposal and decision-making
Smedts - takes his second chance, regular best 22
Cripps - takes his first option more

Agree completely.

Davey actually has quite a nice mix of inside and outside capabilities. The only major deficiency (a big one) is finding the ball.

Tagging roles and perhaps some time spent through half-back could rectify this.

If he can use his pace and decent kicking skills, he could have a real impact with 18-20 touches.

I am looking toward cunningham being our breakaway mid. Hopefully he doest have to find it if crippa and brodie are feeding it to him.

Nov 23: Happy 19th Jacob!

I have an old grainy, black and white photograph of my grandfather. It was taken around 1940. There was a war going on, poverty, disease, hunger, depression.... He has the same look on his face.

Tier 1: CCurnow, Cuningham, Marchbank and Sumner. (Byrne would have been here if not for an ACL)
Tier 2: Pickett, McKay, Silvagni, Glass-McCasker, Boekhorst, Plowman
Tier 3: Weitering, Jaksch, Korchek

Weitering in tier three? Why this low, Harks? Seriously? Below Boekhorst and JGM?

1. Jaksch will be stunningly good and make the All Australian squad of 40.
2. Cuningham will win the rising star.
3. Graham will be auto-selected best 22 in the midfield by round 8.
4. Charlie Curnow to play 15 games and kick 30 goals.
5. Weitering will be the number 1 KPD in the comp.
6. McKay will play 10 games and show he is the future of our forward line.
7. Carlton All-Australians 2017: Cripps, Weitering, Docherty.

did he play in the 45 bloodbath? facial expressions like his won us a flag

From my perspective, Sumner is the big one. For some reason I rate him really highly and hope with a full pre-season he can turn into a Luke Daulhaus type player. He strikes me as a tenacious footballer with a bit of attitude. I think he could be a gun. I look forward to watching him closely this year and hopefully beyond

Bit small - but look at Daniel and Dahlhaus as you said. Certainly has pace and for mine is a better option than Lamb. Maybe play him a bit in the midfield to keep him in the game a bit more. Strongly suspect we'll have several surprises this year (not all those little sprouts will end up being spuds!) and at the very least I expect to see a much more competitive NB outfit!

Out two top picks from this years draft will play the majority of the season IMO. Bolton isn't afraid to use younger players if they are ready and capable and injecting a couple of talented youngsters provides us with some energy and exuberance.

If we take someone like Drew, Fisher or Clarke at 25, my guess is they'll be in the senior team pretty quickly.

From the draft class of 2016, C. Curnow will benefit immensely from another pre-season. I could see him being a big improver and having some seriously good games; maybe kick a bag or two and really cement a spot in the team. Jack will likely improve too and pending injury he should play all season. His upward trajectory is huge and similarly he'll have a couple of big breakout games. Weitering will do what he does and continue to improve; he'll want to develop his one-on-one ability over the off-season. I'd like to see Cuningham play Round 1 also.

Marchbank will play all of next year, again, pending injury. There's no use rushing Pickett in the team and the expectation on him is to recover and regain his fitness-base. He'll likely play some games in the seniors though.
