This is such a good game from both sides and the footy is so free flowing. Melbourne pushed back all their players in the third quarter and there is a little bit of switching. You can tell how the modern game has got to where it is, but this is so so much better footy

dw29392 has been busy. He's uploaded a mix of old and 2018 stuff recently, I'm posting the old stuff though for something a bit different. The limit of five clips per post still remains, hence it's posted over two posts.

One of the first lasting memories I have as a kid watching my team on the telly. Still have the photo from the Sun at home too.

I remember that mark well...I was one of those kids in the background sitting on the bowling club brick wall.

That Vander ‘high tackle’ too...hehe

He’s a god damn legend ...👍

The 84’ and 85’ grand finals are forever etched in my memory as I was there at the ground as a 14 and 15 year old kid.

But out of all the memories of the hundreds of bomber games I’ve witnessed live...either watching on tv or live at the ground...Tim Watson’s goal late in the 93’ preliminary final is the one that I adore the most.

It’s a story I can’t be bothered explaining right here...but bomber fans my age know what I’m taking about.

Some 26 years later...just a minute ago..watching it again...it still brings a joy to my heart like no other. The roar of the crowd....

And G.Cornes’ shake of the head up in the coaches box still warms my heart at the sight of it.

Glorious.

Exactly 3 mins in it happens on this video....but watch the whole thing.

Darren Bewick magic beforehand and Gary O’Donnell’s left foot slammer that put us in front...these are the moments that put us in the slot to get us into a GF against the hated of all hated...CFC.

But we had to get there first...all was lost it seemed an hour before.

But our leaders stood up and pounded the crows.... Broke em.

Brings a tear to eye.

So proud.

There was one piece of play i recall from the early 2000s or late 90s. Was in the one of the 50m arcs, probably defence. Ball has been kicked in and going about 30m out from goal at an 30deg angle. Essendon guy charging at it with an opposition player on his hammer Essendon player has slid in feet first, trapped the ball with his left hand and got it out the same way he was coming in. He completely bamboozled the guy that was right behind him. Remember how skillful it looked. Was something Hird, Wanganeen or Mercuri would do. That's all I can recall of it.

Nice call. If I had to narrow it down to one moment, it would be either Leon Baker's 1st or 2nd goal in the last quarter of 84. Probably the second..

Tim is my all time favourite player though.

What a compilation! :)

It’s ####in awesome innit👌

I watched the entire 93’ GF again last night. Been about 3 or 4 years since last viewing. Geez it was hot weather that day. That first 20 minutes of the 1st qrt is just simply superb.

Ricky Olarenshaw..10 disposals in the first 10 minutes. We simply cooked Carlton with a blow torch of sheer pace and relentless play-on football.

The Wallis hit on Hanna. Hirdy kicking a goal and looking like he was going pass out from exhaustion.

Long making what’s his name Acorn look like a 3rds player. Sean Denham right on top of Diesel from get go but getting the ball himself and kicking a goal.

#### that was one hell of a first qrt performance in a GF.

Good times.

When a finals team is so confident and so dominant the other side looks like a bottom team..rather than a highly experienced premiership winner from the previous season.

Absolute supremacy in every way. Relentless grind. Play on every time. Love it.

It's a North Melbourne video but vintage VFL footage of the 1950 North Melbourne vs Essendon grand final. Game starts about 5 minutes in.

What a fantastic vid! I knew drop kicks were a thing but I didn't realise the extent of them; they're being executed like they're second nature.

There's one moment about 10.20 in, with Coleman lining up for goal on the outer side left, maybe fifty out? Can't make the distance where we'd see Jake Stringer do that easily. It would be interesting to know if that's due to changes in technique over time, or changes in the manufacture of the Sherrin? ..or if I'm on the wrong track completely.
