In 1981 the VFL ceased the Countback rule and all players who would tie from that point onward would be awarded with a medal. The YVNDFL hadn't incorporated that system which was unfortunate for a number of players as there were several tied results.

In 1st Division seniors, R.King of Woori Yallock and N.Blackmore (Wandin) were still tied after a countback but Morgan (Monbulk) was relegated to third despite having polled in more games. In 1995 Allan Morgan was awarded a retrospective B&F as the YVMDFL recognised those that had lost in this manner.

They didn't recognise some other tied results however as there was also a tie in 1st Division Reserves and 2nd Division U17's.

In the 1st Div Reserves C.Wales of Gembrook beat P.Youl of Monbulk on countback. Peter Youl had previously won the 1979 League Reserves. I contacted Peter, who lives in Ferntree Gully, a few years ago about this and he confirmed that he had lost on countback. I have found recorded evidence in the Monbulk Post Sept 9 1981 newspaper which is stored at the Lilydale Library and had listed the Monbulk FC B&F results for the year.

In the 2nd Division P.Ridgeway (Marysville) beat D.Dendo (Yea) on countback which was also recorded in the Monbulk Post Aug 26 1981 as follows:

I contacted the league a few years ago, I think when Leon Rice was in charge, and nothing was done about it. Surely these players also deserve to be recognised if the League has now accepted retrospective awards.

I notice that a few of the other records are also a bit incomplete on the League website. The MDFA premiers are only shown from 1921 onwards although the Association had formed in 1911 with the following premiers missing:
1911 - Belgrave
1912 - Monbulk
1913 - Monbulk
1914 - Monbulk
1915-18 - recess due to WW1
1919 - Monbulk
1920 - Monbulk
1932 - Boronia defeated Ferny Creek on protest after losing 8.12.60 to 9.8.62 (Argus Oct 3 1932 p13)
1933 - Boronia
1936 - Boronia
Boronia's premierships should be recognised if Ferntree Gully and Upper Ferntree Gully's are as they were a part of the MDFA at the time.

Yarra Valley football started in 1890 and the following premierships are also not on the league site which starts in 1921 although there was no competition in some years:
Lilydale - 1890, 1892, 1893, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1900, 1903, 1906, 1910, 1913, 1915
Yarra Glen - 1891, 1894, 1908, 1909 (would have thought Judy would be happy to claim these)
Healesville - 1901, 1912
Coranderrk - 1911
Millgrove - 1914
