Yea was in a sensational condition. Given the amount of rain during the week - and forecast for Saturday - I was really expecting a heavy and boggy centre square. Amazingly the ground was completely dry and a big thumbs up to the curator for having the centre so dry and flat.

Chatting to quite a few of the spectators who agreed that the extra drive was well worth the effort. Very fast games, good sized crowd for the footy and the netball, excellent hospitality by the Yea club and an excellent setting for a finals match. We're really very lucky to live on the doorsteps of suburbia but have the benefits of country football!

No hot water terrible but spot on with the rest

Very sorry to hear that garion...if we were told at the time, we could have flicked a switch and fixed it - instantaneous hot water!!
We have a temperamental safety switch that gets a bit scared with big crowds... (and extra extension cords going to food tents!!)

Totally agree-perfect,we had no problems with the water. The only downside was the fact I put on about 20 kilos by eating one to many of the delicious egg and bacon sandwiches cooked by the boys in the BBQ tent.To all those involved at Yea thank you a job very well done.

Concur!
A great venue and hope it is made available more often. Fabulous atmosphere, a picturebook ground and terrific surface. Well done with the catering and feeling of welcome to all at yea..... and congrats to the League on having the vision to encourage use of the Yea ground.
As for the game.... Geesh!! Upwey were good. VERY good!

wow round 16 in 6th position tonight in yet another GF hats of to Upwey.......Caggs at least the pies won

Yes thank the big fella upstairs the Pies got home! Thought I was in for a stinking drive home at one stage.

Thats cos all us silly buggers keep losing to them! Just Joking.
After weathering the storm in the first 15minutes Upwey played some super footy. We really struggled to get into the game & get the ball off them.
They will have some selection delimma's come the GF. We were lucky if we had 1 winner on the ground, they dominated & still have a couple senior / recruits to come back... Do you play them or Dont you? Stirring a couple of them on Saturday that they maybe aren't needed, I have a feeling they may have been barracking for Monny to make the game a little tighter to add some doubt.... Interesting to hear Midge or Upwey Fan's thought on which way you go:confused:
My feeling is no changes - they have played some cracking footy the last to weeks.

Yea - Well a big Yeh! fantastic day - netball courts & facilities are great. I also see new Tennis Facilities going up. This Shire obviously is looking after their sporting clubs - no half baked redevelopment plans.
Everything Perfect - The Old Stand with a new roof, Small Hill & park benches next to this & the deck wot a deck! Even The Beer on Ice (the way it should be)

Sat was the perfect footy day for the big bounce in the centre square. Why are they only throwing it up? Its obviously a directive. I was looking forward to Leigh smashing down the pigskin & two big ruckman jumping into each other at the centre bounce - its a great sight of our game.

I've already told the coach that he can politely bugger off if he plans to invite me to selection this week!

Woos - I thought you were a betting man.. Its just like stacking the money in one box or another isnt it?
You mean next week dont you??? I reckon tell him you will sit this week on selection & help select the Reserves & the following week he can go jump.
If some have played some reserves games throughout the year maybe wise they have a run this week....

On first thoughts i agree with you Caggs of giving the guys a run in the twos this week, however on reflection do you risk injury this week? Now i know why Midget may not want to do selection this week.

Unfortunately the criteria needed to play Reserves finals is
Reserves:
- 4 x Home and Away games with Reserves, U18s or Vets
AND
- no more than 10 Senior Home and Away games

So even if we wanted to we can't

I notice that the Upwey website is suggesting that this will be Upwey’s 22 Senior YVMDFL Grand Final. If this is true then it would mean that they have played in just a whisker under 48% of all the YVMDFL Grand Finals which seems an incredible effort of consistency. Can anyone confirm that this is correct.

Looks right to me. They have won 12 and lost 9 of the 21 so far. Upwey played in 3 out of 4 in the '60s, 4 out of 10 in the '70s, 2 out of 10 in the '80s, 6 out of 10 in the '90s and 6 out of 10 in the '00s.

The centre was too tempting not to have a few practice bounces at half time of the reserves. But this isn't the time of year to get invited to tea & bikkies by the director of umpiring just because we decided to re-instigate the bounce all of a sudden!

Midge - was that you that sent me sprawling on the outer wing for crowd entertainment? You must have forgotten that a beer after the match is customary payment for such misdeameanours...

Good to hear some positive feedback about Yea on the weekend...
The credit for the facilities sits directly with the reserve user groups and not the Shire - unfortunately!

And you didnt answer my question what would you do UF - play them or stick with the winning team?

That looks like Collingwoods sort of record in GF's - maybe a little better

Another Woos - Fortune favours the brave. Cmon we have faith in you - you should only get the call if you stuff it up.

12 from 21 is better than 2 in the same period - basic math not a strong point Cagga? Would agree the 00's looked a bit more like the Pies, 5 losing GF's before a break through in 2009

If you take after Ivan in bouncing please keep it in the locker

Given that a DVH only missed this game he would probably have to play-the others I'm still unsure on-good luck to the selectors either way there will be a few unhappy boys.

Math wots that? leave that to personality challenged folks like accountants. Was taking the P!ss a little. With a few wobbles in the last decade just comparing. Wasnt talking the same period, more on how both sides had dominated making GF's over history (Pies 15 wins from 42 with 2 draws) & a long drought with a few losing ones before finally cracking it.

Dan Ryan knocked out early on Saturday mail out of Woori is there not happy. Anyone got any news about a report from the incident.

Mid way through second quarter - umpire seen clash of two players, payed free kick, spoke with player who gave free away, no 50, no report.

Late hit and high, knocked out and couldn't play the rest of the game. After your pathetic rant earlier in the year I thought you'd be demanding justice.
