I'm incline to trust management decisions of a team that's won two flags. If anything, I'd be questioning the decisions of a list management team that built a list that hasn't won a final in 8 years, and that attempted to give up first round picks and $1mil/year for Harrison Petty.

Not all clubs can receive hand outs from the AFL like you guys and GCS lol. It was a 1st rounder and McAdams for Petty and I'm not sure were you got the $1M offer from as Petty would have been on more than Dawson lol. The strategy was to offer big contract to high profile player toward the end of list strategy to take it to premiership contender especially if they are RFA as it wouldn't cost any trade capital, Petty isn't a high profile player. We've done an excellent job in doing a complete list rebuild within 5 years (should have played Finals in 2024) with the draft, trading experience players from other clubs and no hand outs from the AFL. This was our biggest list turnover in our history, that's why the AFL wanted to know about our list strategy.

The SA government is paying the AFL 10s of millions for the Gather Round rights which they will use to give Brisbane and GCS more allocated funds than other clubs lol. You think the AFL is giving them for free, we aren't a Nepo club like you guys.

I didn't say the club is paying. I said the SA government is paying it for both SA based clubs from SA tax payers so there's no hand out.

A quarter of your list is Father Sons and Academy players, so theres not alot of skill there, especially for the price you were paying for them.
We missed out on Petty, so it didnt hurt us in the slightest, and made Melbourne pay more for him.
I think our list managers have a pretty good track record, especially considering we only have one FS who has played for club, and one NGA.
The rest have been astute picks, and quality trades.

Im not a knocker of Brisbane, as I think they have done an amazing job of turning the club around.

You have to know when to hold them and when to fold them. A second round pick is better than nothing for a duel premiership utility player.

This has never happened before and I'll believe it when I see it. The matching is to protect the club losing the player, not bring the player back.

I get it and i do concede it would be an outlier. However most players who leave RFA either want to get out for family reasons (see dangerfield etc) success to leave for a top team to win a flag (i could make you a huge list of these) or the only third reason is huge money.
Now the 2nd reason doesnt apply here as Brisbane are still successful. We have heard very little about him being desperate to get back to family etc (it's possible but I would have expected the media to sniff it out by now if it was true). So the only real reason for him to leave is money and if Brisbane match that money the reason he doesnt exist.
Now I doubt it will get to that because Brisbane can't risk matching huge money i don't think (unless Morris is already signed by then) but if they did i suspect he would stay.

Unfortunately the lions were able to rort successive drafts and have too much talent on our list. It’s a heavy price to pay.

Luckily for us our best key defenders, Andrews, is still in his 20s. It’d be more concerning if our best defenders were in their 30s. Luckily Pearce and Ryan would only be in their late 20s as well right?
