I'd be playing him in defence for now. Looks lost up forward. He's got key defence written all over him
Agree, posted earlier that I thought a year in the backline in a role similar to what Cochran played last year would be good for his development (as long as the strategy is to give him the best chance as a forward before any permanence as a back was considered).

Really liked Howes game on the weekend as a back, the VFL side is too tall in the forward line, so someone needs to go back - if Membrey is dropped this week, I'd play him in the backline to give him a change at getting some confidence with his marking.

I think it's a bit of a development issue that a kid who is being developed for such contested roles is playing in a comp where he has no chance of contesting. Maybe that will help him develop his craft to get it uncontested, but just as likely to result in our next world's tallest half forward flanker.
I’m dreaming of a giant WHE now

NBA has a term for some draftees - draft and stash. They draft the rights to them but they continue in their local league to see if they develop. An under 19 league would be ideal for Zac.
Where would he play under 19s? Any player drafted would be well above the standard of local 19s and the TAC cup isn’t going to use an overage spot on a drafted player

I know. I wasn't talking about a practical solution - rather an ideal one. Personally, I think AFL draft too many kids who are too far away from the level in the hope of development. I think there'd be better outcomes and better lower tier comps if only the first round was 18 year olds. I like the way it's done in the NBA - really talented kids in the first round. More mature blokes who are close to the mark in the second round.

Yep I agree I like players being able to declare at different ages

Except in the nba the first round is 30 picks.
So you could say that’s our first 2 rounds
Then nba second round = afl round 3-4

Not really, given we do compensation picks, F-S & academy whereas the NBA first round is purely 1 pick per team (in a pool of prospects almost infinitely larger)

It's the most talented 30 from across the globe in a sport much much larger than AFL.

Aren’t there 30 teams in the NBA?
I believe expansion to at least 32 teams in the short term (40 teams long term) is in the pipeline.

Watched him playing on the weekend. This kid has some serious running capacity. Moves really well for a guy his size.
I'm really interested whether he's going to be turned into a forward or a back with some ruck potential too.
