Yep, obviously quite skinny atm. Once he builds some size (like Steene did!) he could definitely pinch hit at 199cm (?)

We've spoken about our VFL team being vital to our young players future. Losing to a bunch of vfl listed players in GWS on friday was completely unacceptable seeming we were not far off full strength. We haven't had many years like essendon did last year (10+ long term injuries) yet most years our VFL team is mediocre at best. Why? Coaching? Gameplan? Resources?

It simply has to lift or our young players development will be affected.

Losing to a bunch of vfl listed players in GWS on friday was completely unacceptable seeming we were not far off full strength. It's a catch 22 - our best VFL team probably doesn't have as many of the AFL kids in it as we'll play when they're all fit.

That not really how it works though. AFL affiliated clubs with a lot of kids in them tend to be weaker generally than stand alone or affiliated clubs who have more VFL players on them. We’re talking about developing kids vs men in their prime. We had a lot of players who were only first or second year players on Friday, it’s really not rocket science as to why GWS were able to overpower us.

You cannot deny our vfl team has been underachieving hence our younger players are taking too long to develop

Think he will be a player... He is skinny, but I was pleasantly suprised with his footy smarts and ability to read the game.

Could have something special with West and McCarthy in future.

This is like the negative version of the chicken and the egg. Is there no egg because there's no chicken, or no chicken because there's no egg.

Did the young players not develop because they didn't win or did they not win because they didn't develop.
