I think its dying a slow death.
I've never really had any interest in it.
Kilkenny seems to have gone alright...keep in his ear with the Irish boys at the club.
Will Byrne get lost playing as a half forward in the AFL? Would like to see it though.
They brought in the 5 handball rule because a few years ago we worked out we cant kick the round ball so we just handball and bounced the ball with over lap running and had a shot when close enough, but the Irish didnt like that so changed the rules to limit handballs and bouncing. And the Aussies are starting to get a bit frustrated...
And whats this 5 handballs bullshit. Australia is getting caught out on that all the time. usually in front of our goals.
Sakc Yarran who has tanked the GF sprint and this series.Regardless of what team the AFL send over, GAA blokes are not professional athletes. Australia should never be belted like that by a team of accountants and postmen.

Hope the club cancels Yarran's holidays and makes him run a 100 hundreds after getting off the plane.
Highlights
Think that is our Byrne passing the ball and running on. They certainly move like AFL players with their run, agility and poise in close.
We should have snuck in Bootsma into the team and selected him as the goal keeper...

I suggested something similar to that... so that he could build up his tank to start playing between the arcs more... and someone else abused me about it...Sakc Yarran who has tanked the GF sprint and this series.

I believe Byrne has spent some time playing forward in the development league and the VFL? Might see him up there for the seniors one day.I'd rather keep Tuohy down back.
He's performing well there and players skills tend to suffer when they play midfield.

I haven't seen enough of Byrne to comment unfortunately. No idea how he would play as a forward at senior level.
HARKER would know.
If I remember rightly Byrne kicked 4 goals in a Development game early last season & he did look lively in the forward line, but as you rightly say, the NB's forward line doesn't see enough ball to allow a developing forward to prosper.Started as a forward with the Development and NB side but the ball just couldn't find it's way down there.
Good move to have put him back given that's where the ball spent most of the time last year.
Byrne is a very good mover, one of the better athletes at the club and has a lot of bounce about him.
Kicking and composure coming out of the back-line was quite good last year but I don't know about his kicking for goal.
Nothing would surprise me with this kid and I'm so sorry we've see next to nothing of him, this year to date.

Byrne's brief appearance at AFL level showed enough to suggest he could be a very good running HB.
I seem to recall having this discussion with yourself last year mediumsizered
The kid can run all day, has a good side-step and turn of speed. Saw a couple of things early on in the Northern Blues where he played forward that had me thinking...............Fyfe.
O.K. granted that that's a stretch but just his bounce forced the vision.
He and Sheehan may well have now been best 22 had they not have been forced out through injury......................pity.
....the updates from the club are ridiculous at the moment.
Into week 8 of a mild hamstring strain . WTF?
It's a bit disrespectful in my eyes that some players aren't named on the official injury list...what, like they don't exist?Setbacks. I don't think that the club have set out to pull the wool over anyone's eyes and Byrne was slated for a return two weeks ago before being pulled from the NB match.
The only thing I don't particularly appreciate though, is that some players will get talked about via the injury reports and updates and some just aren't given any credibility by being ignored.
