Finally you seem to have missed another point. The desire of both players to leave reflects poorly on the coach.

Sorry I meant to add Touhy to the low ball contract offers not Gibbs.Gibbs is under contract. No low offers have been made to him. I have read the club's statement about Gibbs. It is very brief. Which of the few lines in it should I read between to decipher the hidden meaning revealed to you?!!!
Gibbs is under contract with three years to run. End of story. He should be held to his contract unless Adelaide pays overs. If he is let go for a return that supporters consider inadequate the Club will suffer. Supporters will drop off. Also the talk about him wanting to go home should be dismissed for the nonsense it is. Home is a 50 minute play ride away ffs. That excuse is pure tosh.
As for Tuohy he should reward the club for giving him a career. He is also a very valuable, injury free player. If Geelong want him they should pay overs as well.

I have followed Carlton for a long time. I am not accustomed to them being losers!

have not really seen any teams jumping out of trees to get Motlop , but yeah would take late first off their hands if they get one
I'm genuinely worried you only read the previous 5 posts in a thread when you comment. Geelong can't trade a future first round pick this year without first acquiring a first round pick.Sorry i don't rate Guthrie, much happier with a 2017 first rounder or a 2nd rounder and KolaJazzKnee (sorry about the spelling)
Look up the following terms: "trade bait" "currency" and "rebuild" and everything will become a little clearer for you. Finally you seem to have missed another point. The desire of both players to leave reflects poorly on the coach.
Out-of-contract Carlton defender Zach Tuohy has informed the Club that he would like to seek a trade and nominated Geelong as his preferred club.
“The Club had offered Zach a three-year deal and he has chosen to explore his options. We remain committed to adhering to our list management plan and the offer was in line with that strategy,” Head of Football Andrew McKay said.
We offered Tuohy a 3 year contract. I though that the money offer was okay. Why do you describe it as "a sack of potatoes"?Not really... Gibbs is leaving because he wants a flag and to go back to Adelaide (for inexplicable reasons). Tuohy is leaving because we pretty much offered him a sack of potatoes as a contract and (although he's Irish) has decided he's better off elsewhere.

meaning he wanted more money
Ok. I am prepared to entertain the possibility of the club wanting to let Tuohy go. I think it is unwise. He has played very well without injury since early 2013!!!

As for Carlton having a poor 15 years. It is bound to continue if all our top players want to go elsewhere-![]()
We haven't been losers for 20 years. Made the 1999 grand final and finals after that!Been overseas for the last 20 years?
Excuse the intrusion. I find it increasingly difficult to see how we will get both without losing Motlop. That's just my personal view, however...Talk is Cats are into Deleideo. How will they afford both? Would we consider Vardy?

It's been floated on our board that with the potential loss of both Vardy and Kersten, that the former will be part of a trade with Richmond coupled with our future second round pick.
The latter - Kersten - has been heavily linked to Fremantle and that we expect their third round pick #41 for him. #41 and a player like Horlin-Smith to the GC for their second round pick (mid-20s) which we'd on-trade to you for Tuohy.
Of course, while this is theoretically possible, I'm not sure that it would fall together that nicely. Having said that, I didn't think our trade period last year would fall that nicely, either.
Loyalty in sports is a one way street unfortunately. Boomer was loyal to the Roos his whole career and look how he ended up.
