I didn't get to see the game, but I just wanted to say congrats to the young bloke on cracking the senior lineup. That first touch was a shocker, but he'll only get better from here. :thumbsu:

It wasn't really his fault though.

It wasn't as if he actually thumped the ball into the turf, it just came back at him a lot harder than it should have. Just unlucky!

Just saw the replay..other than that bad luck zach didnt put a foot wrong.....put his body on the line....great ball handling in the wet...one particular example with one hand on the run, sound decision making and disposal.....a fair bit to like with limited opportunity....looked very compos ed for a first gamer

any highlights of the things he done???? i keep a keen intrest in all the irish lads to see how they are getting on, would be great if somebody could post some up thanks :)

Not much to that game really. He only had 3 touches but to be fair to Zach, he came on in the later stages of the 3rd quarter and then we went on a 7 goal run where he would have had limited opportunities.

He had one lovely pass out of defense which gave us something to tale from his game. He's a real talent, all he needs is continuity at AFL level and he will thrive IMO.

You're not the only Tuohy fan out there so I'm sure we will be right on top of it. We are as excited as you. :thumbsu:

'Harker' lays claim at being his no. 1 fan so I'd have a chat to him.

Yeah, he played incredibly well for someone so new to the game. The fact he has adapted to AFL's nuances and developed his skills so quickly from scratch suggests that he has a lot of improvement left in him. Awesome stuff.

Didn't he say in an interview that Carlton gave him a few pills to practice with for a year or two whilst in Ireland? I'm pretty sure i heard something of that ilk.

This kid just keeps getting better. As an article that I read recently said, it is going to be hard to keep this guy out of the team if he keeps going the way he is now. Congrats on the first goal too! :thumbsu:

thanks very much, keep em coming :) he looks a natural, and the goal topped off a great performance from the lad!!!

Yeh think his arrival was delayed some 9 months or so as they were intending to bring him out at the same time as another Irish boy (Sheehan i think) who ended up farting around and delaying the whole think so Zac spent half that time while waiting for Sheehan with a footy in his hands getting the feel of the Sherrin.

Even though i think Sheehan was clearly the better credentialled of the two - having just won gaelic footy's equivalent of the Rising Star Award - i recall the story going that Zac lost a bit of patience and urged Carlton to get him out by saying someting along the lines of, "i'll be much better than him anyway". Looks like he was right! :D:thumbsu:

Somewhat reflective of our side in general right now.
Just love that attitude and the balls to put your all on the line to back up your words.

Tuohy will do me. :thumbsu:

Our equivalent would be young player of the year and Sheehan (pictured below) has definitely never won that. He's a natural forward though, very powerful for his age. He broke onto the Cork senior team bigtime in 2010 and won an All-Ireland with them but at the time Carlton were talking with him he would only have been 16/17 years old. Tuohy scored a great goal in an All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park at u-18 level which probably would have made him the better known of the two. I think Sheehan would have been a very good prospect too but I suppose one out of two isn't bad! :D

This will be Zach's fourth game on end, which suggests that the coaches and MC have been reasonably happy with what they see and moreso, whith what they can work with.

The competition for Zach's spot is very strong and Tuohy will need to string together several very good games, before he can feel comfortable in holding his spot for the remainder of the year.

Zach still has some refinement needed with his defensive concentration as he seems to be too keen to run off his opponent right now.
Just a little tuning required and this kid will be a stayer.

I'm thinking he's really only holding a spot until Laidler is ready to resume at this stage. Laidler being out has allowed the mc to give him a taste to get a feel for senior footy.

When Duigan and Laidler are set to go he'll be back in the two's.
