i don't completely hate it if we can get him fit. Was a former # 15 pick. Assuming the first rounder is going to GWS for Marchbank and Pickett, and maybe something extra, its a good deal for Tuohy TBH.

Need to factor in everything we are getting back and dont have to part with though.
Could work out to be Tuohy for Smedts, Marchbank, Pickett, Corr and we keep pick 5 and 13 etc if Gibbs goes through.
If Gibbs doesn't go through we keep pick 5 and Gibbs.

Maybe we took Smedts to try and concentrate out injury jinx into one player.
Or maybe we were bent over at the trade table because we lowballed an uncontracted player as a way of putting him on the trade table and he chose a team with nothing to offer us.

This trade feels like the Menzel trade of last year but I think we can get a lot out of it.
1. Now we have complete hand over the Crows, we don't need pick 13 for the GWS boys as the smugly keep trying to tell us
2. We obviously have good intel on Smedts with Amos at the club. Smedts never settled at the cats, one week forward, next week in defence, dropped or injured. With us he will have a defined and clear role, so hopefully he can reach his potential.
3. Next years draft is not deep so the upgrade of pick, if it's not passed onto GWS, which I'm assuming, will still have some value, especially as Touhy was out of contract also.
It's an OK trade, as McKay said last year, don't judge on the individual trade wait til the end of the period.

Tuohy is the first round pick. Its not both.
If we trade Geelongs 1st next year for Mbank and Pickett the trade is: [Tuohy and our 2017 second round pick] for [Smedts, Marchbank and Pickett].
On another note, if that happens (and Gibbs goes for 13), we'll have about half our side next year comprised of former 1st round picks:
