No players who don't want to wear our jumper anymore should go .
It's a privilege to play for Carlton.
There is no way that will happen.
He does have a deal on the table waiting. No reason why he can't say I'm staying after all. If Geelong can't pay the going rate (early 2nd) then we can try to shop him around but if he says no to that then off to the PSD. It's something brisbane should of done. I'm sick of players holding clubs for ransom, we've given tuohy everything he's ever wanted. Clubs lose out in both situations here. Players contracted = player can request to go anywhere and walk out under "mental concerns"
Player is uncontracted = I'm going here and nowhere else or I walk out
Player has been at club for 8 years = I select "this club" and you can't stop me.
When is there a club that says "you're going here too bad". Look at Lang, Cameron and McGovern. I just want to shove it in all their faces when we rise back to power.

AFAIK, none of the contracted Cats players want out and without their consent it aint happening. Tigers saw that with Caddy.

I get the desire to take certain players as one of yours, albeit OOC, wants out but currently the system does not allow it.

With any luck, we can get 41 from Freo, package that with 36 to GCS whom are looking for points and get one of their mid 20's picks of which they have 3 I believe.

You'd then get that 20 something for 2e.

Or conversely, he stays not wanting to be there or walks out and Im pretty sure none of the 3 parties are looking for that outcome.

To be honest I'd probably prefer say pick 20-22 for Touhy rather than Lang. I think that's a fair deal and geelong are pretty fair to deal with and I have confidence in them to compensate us for Touhy. I believe Lang is a geelong boy and probably would have grown up barracking for them, why would he want to leave?! We could get pick 20-22 and on trade that to GWS for marchbank

Well Barass was on the money again about us wanting Lang for Tuohy :)

Seems like lang doesnt want to go and we cant force contracted players to go as much as i would be ok with the trade. You will probably have to take whatever pick in the 20s can rustle up or send him to the draft which neither of us want.

I think many blue fans would be happy with that

Well they sure better be more reasonable than you. Tuohy is worth more than Lang as it is, but no only rubbish players who can't crack a game are available.

I was asked a question to which I gave a reasoned and appropriate answer with explanations as to why. And to your point, neither Lang nor Cocky are currently in our best 22 at the end of 2016. So by default you are calling the ones you want rubbish players by your metric.

I believe that changes at the start of 2017 - hence my reasoning for their retention by the GFC as they will move to best 22 with the list changes we have in play.

Cheers and hope you get close to what you are looking for.

Well that's not really reflecting what he said. His argument was both those players are expected to be best 22 so they don't want to part with them. Fair play.

guessing it will come down to that if we dont get a pick in the 20s
And thats th rub now. Once players pick their destination, especially OOC ones, getting that leverage to change that preffered location is difficult. I dont beleive there is an example in the current FA/trade era of that happening.

Of course, there is always a first.

I still think we can get a mid 20's from GCS once the Kersten and Vardy deals get sorted, and that will make it to you for 2e.

Did he REALLY want to go there ?

Anyway, I dont want to get OT in this thread....

I guess that's one that will be speculated on forever and a day. On the balance of probabilities, there's got to have been instances where a player has preferred one club and ended up going to another recently. It's just that perhaps it was one where said player didn't come out and "nominate" (like that's actually a thing... geez it shits me) their preferred club publicly and end up somewhere else.

So they're actually borderline best 22, but are off limits because they're borderline best 22. Only those who have no chance of getting a game are available for trade I suppose.

The thing is, Tuohy is easily best 22. I don't see your club drawing a circle around the best 28 players on your list & claiming them all off limits.

Amazingly different tone on this thread to the Gibbs one. Even the Geelong fans are nice to deal with, like their list management teams normally are.
As much as I would love the get Cockatoo out of this trade, I can't see it happening, at least not for a straight swap anyone. He's the cats only top 10 draft selection for years and they deliberately traded up the draft order that year to get him.
Guthrie would be my dream get, I would be happy if we offered Touhy and 24 for Guthrie and a later pick. Kid is a genuine gun, with speed to burn and fantastic disposal by foot. Wont happen though, as Geelong are aware of his ability.
Lang seems to be the one, this is less favourable to us, although not all together disastrous. Not many 20yr olds are regular first team players in top 4 clubs, so the fact that he was in and out of the team should be a worry. The kid can play, my only knock on him is I don't think he will ever be a full time midfielder. Has some similar attributes to Bruest though... so wouldn't be a horrible result for Touhy given he is 6 years the senior and out of contract.
Ideally though, keeping Touhy would be best. He's a seriously good player, and a leader at the club, given our lack of both of these thing, his loss will be felt.

While I agree, remember that Motlop, Bartel and Enright are gone, so there's spots up for grabs and they're right in the mix for that.

Our best bet is convincing one of Cockatoo, Caddy and Lang that their career is going to stall because they wind up on the HFF or in the reserves. Their entire next tier of mids are all under contract, so one of them is going to yo-yo if they are bringing in a replacement for Enright in Tuohy.

Gregson will be nipping at their heels as well.

Tuohy had other offers from other clubs. If a deal can't get done, maybe he will ok a move elsewhere

Or if not, we can up his offer by 50k a year, add in some incentives to get a fourth year and save everyone the hassle.

just read motlop is going to be on $600k next season - does thing turn anyone else's brain into a seething whirlpool of what the ****?
He was smart. ooc last year and had a very good year (2nd B&F).
He was smart given the club didn't like losing Christensen out of contract.
Got himself a very good pay day as a result.

As for this deal and the Deledio one, been completely at ease with the possibility it doesn't occur.
I can't blame the club for trying to get either player, good footballers that'd help the team but at the same time respect their stance for not forcing players to move, which appears as though the one you're after doesn't want to move.

If we can't get a fair deal done then I do hope he stays and doesn't PSD himself, don't want to get that reputation as a club as you should get something for him. Envisage this being a deadline day deal??

Probably depends on when you can get that pick in the 20's that seems likely.

Tuohy is a pefect fit for Geelong or Sydney. Can't balme Zac for choosing Geelong. Unlike teh walking ponytail a lot fo Carlton supporters have a genuine reespect for Tuohy and what he has been able to acheive. Fingers crossed no deal for my part anyway - any interest in Squbbsy?

How mean-spirited is that? Why the high-school posting style?
