Zantuck

But do we really need a Zantuck or Blumfeild. Both players are taking the spot of a youngster and neither will do much better a job. Surely it is better if we pick up someone younger and give them a shot and try to develop them rather than picking up older used players.
We will almost certainly end up picking either Blumfeild or Zantuck up simply because Sheedy just loves recycling players, especially Richmond ones.

From my perspective I would move on Zantuck in a heartbeat especially if his contract has been tweaked to reflect his status at the minute.
His is a natrually aggressive player and Sheedy loves tough nuts and can potentially reinvent him at Bomberland as an aggressive third forward helping out Lloyd. Given that your LLoyd needs support he could be a foil.
You'd be getting him for nix.///think about it....if it was up to me I'd pass on money man Caracella and go for problem child Zantuck....

Its not like Zantucks a 28 year old nearing the end of his career.
He's 22 (23 next year before the season starts). Still quite young.

Well its official now, Zantuck a bomber next year. I'm glad we took him over Blumfield because i reckon Ty might be able to play a part in our team across half back....this could release McPhee/Solomon to the midfield.

Happy with it.

Zantuck is only 22 and from what I can see there wasn't a kid out there with the amount of talent Ty possesses. Gives us depth at both ends of the ground and still has some improvement in him.
Be interesting to see how he goes.

I'd suggest the half of you who voted No or Unsure begin to start liking the guy now.

Very happy to FINALLY get him, although he should of been officially in red and black a couple of months ago now at trade week. However we did get him a lot cheaper this way which leaves Richmond to pay a fair percentage of his contract!

Needs a bit of work, on and off the field. But he's at the right club and under the right leaders to do so.

Still unsure. He'll be of more value than Blumfeild. That's for sure.

Off the feild? How so? Just because he knows some 'gangsters'. Big deal. Like I said before, the majority of footballers are ****************s.

Not at all, I just don't think his attitude at Richmond was the required one of an AFL footballer. He seemed disinterested at times, I spose we just have to look at the rabble he was playing with and I don't think team harmony was their strong suit. Has nothing to do with his 'underworld' links, it's not an issue at all. I'm sure he's not the first or last footballer to be involved.

I think it's more to do with his lifestyle (drinking, gambling etc), rather than the people he associates with. I'm sure he will turn the corner though.

Never was a problem for some players. McGuane, Polly Farmer.

They weren't professional footballers. They weren't training nearly 30 hours a week. It was a different game.

And from all reports it did become a problem for McGuane.

They also had oodles of talent. comparing Zantuck with them is like comparing stripes with spots.

I reckon he is only at the club due to the way he smashed up the little ******** from hawthorn. Sheedy wants more tough psychos and he sees Zantuck as his new protoge.

Let's wait and see if he is of any use. Also is he a top up player as we still try and pinch a flag before Hirdy retires?

We're not going to win another flag with Hird as captain or playing - end of story, so let's just get that out of our heads.

And there arn't many 22 year old top up players around! He's got another 10 years in him .

Looks likely we'll pick him up.

Positives:
Thrashing Williams around like a rag doll. Best non Essendon footage of 2004.
Bicthmond will probably be paying some of his salary. Makes up for them robbing us with Blumfeild.
He wants to play for us. At least he is enthusiastic. I sure hope the rest of the team wants to play next year.

Negatives:
Is he any good? I've yet to recall him doing anything remotely outstanding at Bitchmond, and that wouldn't be hard especiall amongst the likes of Fiora and what other gimps richmond give jumpers to these days.
May be a ********er off the feild. But he's an AFL footballer and it's his duty, as well as the other 400+ other listed players to believe they are better than most mortals.
He dosen't like team authority. Ha! If you had some dud like Campbell as your captian of course you'd tell him to get ********ed if he told you how and where to play.

Spare me the bull******** about him having links to the underworld because he attended the funeral of some dead wannabe Don Vito Corleone. I hardly see how that will effect the club at all.

I'm like the swiss. I'm neutral.

Gold!!

I haven't seen Zantuck push around any bigger boddied players. Pushing around Mark Williams like a rag doll from Hawthorn doesn't give him any points for being tough and strong, Phil Matera could probably beat Williams up. Zantuck is no Jonathon Brown or Barry Hall from an intimidation point of view, so if thats a prime reason we have recruited him then I'm concerned.

I've had a good think about the reasons for picking up Zantuck and I think I liken it to the same reasons we picked up Barry Young a few seasons back. To add a bit of hardness and intimidation and free up the more talented back flankers to rotate through the middle.

He's never going to intimidate like a Brown or Hall but he'll do the same sort of job Young did and did well for us a few seasons ago.

He'll release macca to the middle, something we couldn't afford to do last season as every team now seems to have a specialist small forward.

And when he's in the twilight of his career we can trade him to Hawthorn :)
