List Mgmt. Zarke

There is out of form and then there is looking completely disinterested and giving less effort than my Grandma who has emphysema and a collapsed lung would give.
The side is on the end of a fifteen goal belting, he is not alone. He deserves to be dropped after today's showing, not delisted/traded etc... Your grandma must have been quite the footballer ;)

Is not a forward, will never be a forward.

But Sandi is old, Griff is not what he was, so unless we want to have a ruck division of Hannath and Moller in 2 years then you can't really do much about it.

If we had a KPF or a KPD who could relief ruck (Dawson is the only one who is halfway competent at this) then we could do away with carrying 2 rucks. We might have to look at that anyway - but that gives you another problem where Pav is going to cop 2 KPDs the entire game.

It's not just today. His effort has been pretty poor for most of the season.

Then why sign Griffin and not use him, especially since he's been fairly decent in the WAFL?

He's on our list purely as a contingency plan if Sandilands gets injured. Wasn't too long ago that Sandilands was injury prone, which is why Griff was recruited to begin with.

Nah Clarky got his times up, moeller will do the job cant keep as rookies anymore.

While he probably isn't deserving of a spot atm unfortunately I don't think Hannath or Griffin are any better. Really need guys like Tabs or Dawson to learn to play that 2nd ruck role so we actually have the ability to drop Clarke.

We can't play both him and Sandi in the same team if we want serious success. We need at least one smart ruck man and we need to balance Sandi's lack of mobility.

Griff is the smartest we have but he has about the same mobility as Sandi so we can't play both of them either. Hannath is a hack, Apeness is injured and Moller isn't ready so our best bet for a second ruck to Sandi is Dawson.

Lets hope A Pearce and Macca can stay fit and available to allow us to play with this structure.

You will never know unless Moller is given ago, Clarke & Hannath have had ago, give griff & Moller a shot.

Ps did anyone notice Clarke had both knees heavily bandaged, maybe played hurt.

Yeah I noticed that late in the piece, not sure if they were both strapped from the start but definitely had his legs taped on in the last quarter. I think we often play players who are unfit or underdone, I think Clarke is one who has had ongoing issues with his knees since his Festival mishap and I'm not convinced he has actually fully recovered. I think they are managing him through again this year. No excuses being offered here, but I did notice the strapping too.

Griffin is slow as a wet week - as is Hannath. You can't play Sandi + another slow lumbering ruckman in the one team, so we're left with Clarke until Moller comes on (if that does actually happen). Clarke does need a rocket up him, however, that's for sure. It's not like he's never shown good form and effort - he just has way too many down days and lacks any consistency. And don't just say he's consistently shit, cos he's not, just for a fair bit of the time this year...

We through Alex P into the deep end, let's see how lurch goes with Sandi, there is nothing to loose at least till Clarke can play without strapping over both knees, at least lurch has got pace pull out the last game in 2013 v saints and have a gander .;)

Do we play Clarke as the No. 1 ruck instead? Given how everybody is complaining that Sandi's 2m taps to Fyfe are ineffective and too easily countered by conceding the tap and zoning off? Will that draw teams back into trying the win their own tap and give us a bit of space to get the clearance?

Just musing...

Some of his dropped marks in the forward line were from what I thought was an improved effort to not be outbodied by opponents in the marking position, but there's something wrong with his technique because once he got to the point where he judged the flight of the ball and his hands were the highest in the contest he just spilled them. He seems to mark much better when he has space to run into a mark from the side of a contest.

His best games this year have been when he's almost played as a midfielder and picked up possessions as a link player through the wings kicking the ball into the forward 50. (last quarter vs Bulldogs and vs Essendon)

Most deplorable non-competitive, verging on sackable effort I saw today was the boundary throw in next to the point post in Hawthorns forward 50 where McEvoy took it cleanly in two hands and poked a kick into the square for Puopolo to eventually toe through for a goal.

No. Sandilands is a worse forward than Zarke, and Sandilands is the best tap ruckman in the comp. It would be ridiculous to play Sandi forward.

I think Zarke should just play further up the ground. We are playing him as a forward pocket when he's more similar to a roving CHF. Contested marking is not his strong suit, but he's got great athletic ability and endurance.

I remember slagging off Clarke non stop for his unmotivated, slow, uninterested style of play and was shut down. He never chases and gets to contests far too late - simply because he's a basketballer. He's worth watching live, keep an eye on him, and watch how he bumbles about. It's so frustrating when Lyon reckons he's all about great effort, but Zarke gets a game weekly.

I will say I loved his first few games this season though. Seemed a brand new man. Now he's back where he used to be. How many times can a man have form fluctuations that great and that often?

Bring in Griffen, what an underrated player. Great around the ground too.

Good idea on Clarke to play further up the ground but he might be instructed to play closer to goal. I still have faith he will come on but 25 now so better act fast. He is what all clubs seem to be going to which is very mobile athletic ruckman.
Re Sandi, lot of the rucks are running away from him now and getting space leading to uncontested marks, big Ivan who ain't fast did it for tigers. It's more noticeable live, sides are gambling that if there is a turn over Sandi ain't going to kill you the other way.

Don't think you can play Griiff, Sandi and Pav in the same forward line.

Hawthorn are going to struggle once Hale, Mitchell and Hodge are moved on but we are going to struggle more because they will pinch Clarke from us at the end of the year for their pick #17 and suddenly we have the massive drop off in ruck output post Sandi. It's going to be called a masterstroke as he plays so much better when he has had a bit of a break and those Victorian clubs recover much better.

Gotta try trade him for a Tomlinson or McCarthy from GWS. Dunno what it'll take, but get it done. They need a 2nd 1st round pick to get both their academy players so they can have pick 18, Clarke, and something else.

Tomlinson & Apeness can switch between fwd & Ruck. Or McCarthy FWD & Apeness ruck.

Nah, Griff for Clarke. No way is Sandi considered a forward?

Fyfe to spend a lot more time up forward, as well as giving Duffy and Crozier two or three games and not token appearances. See what happens. Fremantle aren't awesome, but Carlton are so shit you can patronise those two guys. Especially if you can blindly patronise De Boer and Subes.

Gift debuts to Weller and Blakely as well. Why not.
