North Ballarat would have been rapt to play the game in Ballarat winter weather.

Good to see the big boys (McGrath in the ressies and Macca in the seniors) stand up in what was foul weather.

and Jack's back too.

Better question; Did Goose get cited for owning anyone else in possession for Hutchy to beat up on?

Whilst Hutchy searches through fast food restaurant dumpsters for his stories, I couldn't believe he asked Dean Bailey "do you think Melbourne is capable of not finishing on the bottom?" on the weekend.

Serious? Man that's classic. "Do you think you could become a competent journalist before the end of the season? Next question!"

Either that or leap the table and jam his note pad up his rectum.

Did anyone see this match and therefore know (or has heard) how Maguire went? Thought he looked pretty fit the week before ...

Some dribs and drabs on saintsational (I think he was listening to the radio?). Sounds like Raph, Armo and Goose did OK along with Jack and Macca, although Goose may have gone off with leg cramps. It was cold - just ask Jack!

Clearly Sautner was not amused :

Watching the ball and keeping your eyes open is obviously overrated ?

Where did Raph play ?

(I don't know - maybe Kosi is to come in for King and Raph gets another go as a forward...)

"Sandringham spearhead Nick Sautner was the leading goalkicker on the ground with three but had a tough battle against Roosters captain Shaune Moloney, who was reported for bumping or making forceful contact to St Kilda-listed ruckman Ben McEvoy.

McEvoy, 19, continued his strong start to the season with 13 kicks, five marks and 17-hit-outs, while rookie defender Luke Miles was a stand-out for the Zebras with 30 touches.

Xavier Clarke (23 possessions) and Raphael Clarke (18) were serviceable for Sandringham, while key defender Matt Maguire got through his third straight VFL game unscathed.

"He (Maguire) is working really hard to rebuild his body and rebuild his match fitness and hardness so he took another really positive step in the right direction," Sandringham coach Andy Lovell said."

I guess to judge Raph we need to know whether he spent full time on ground or light duties.
Another consistant game by X without injury. ( I would have liked to see him against Port rather than Eddy - I hope he's not going to be the 2009 equivalent of Birss ).
Great to hear how well Miles and Howar are going. More rookie success for us?

I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect Xav's fate was pretty much sealed when he injured himself in the practice match against Port. From that point on, he has simply been surpassed by more reliable players.

I'm sure he is still well and truly in our plans.

He's in our best 22 but is being made to earn his spot by proving that his body can hold up to regular footy.

That's 6 games in a row for him isn't it? And the same for Goose?

Exactly what we want to see from them both.

I don't think that Sandy have a Schneider in their team, so this is interesting - they do have a Jarryd Allan, a Clarke (Simon), an Eddy (Brett) and a Jones (Stephen).

Anyway, Sandy will play Saturday afternoon (away game btw), so we'll know then whether this was a mistake, prank or signal to Schneider...

I for one thought that he was not great, but certainly did enough against Port with thirteen disposals, two goals, one tackle and two one percenters (and the only St Kilda player without a clanger). And it definitely works to have him and MIlne in the team.

I thought players listed on an extended bench for a Sunday game are usually included in the VFL team lists as well but that doesn't explain why SchneIder is there because he's named on the half forward flank.

However I don't think it's anything to worry about. Look how many players we have listed in the AFL and VFL seniors and the VFL seniors and reserves.

We'll know the Saints team tomorrow night and the Zebras team the following day.

On another note, I wish I didn't have work on Saturday because the Zebs are playing in my part of the world. Hopefully somebody from here can get down to the ground and give us a report.

No.

Apparently there was an alleged Bulldogs scout asking saints/sandy supporters about Miles and taking down notes. Very odd story. Cause you think every club would all relevant info on all players. But anyway, who else is under a cloud? Zac?

Great to see Stanley and Armo in best players. Does anyone know how Maguire and Stevens went today as they are among those pressing for selection.
