Haha, what a flogging! Well done Sandy

Little bit disappointing not to see Armo in the best, but then again in a 100+pt win, it would be hard to pick em apart lol

Well done Jack!

Haha I'd hire me too. :p

I gotta say a few players have taken me by surprise, McGrath namely. Ddin't think he'd do too much this year, but it he looks to have picked it up. Stanley too. Will be a interesting battle as to who takes the next ruck spot. McEvoy in front now, but Rhys will definatley give him a run for his money in a year or 2 i reckon.

Stanley 3 bests in the last 4 weeks.

Who knows where this kid could end up...

Seemed an inspired pick at 47, I'd never heard of him before the draft.

Simpkin too, quite a few games in the bests, and he was a mid range rookie pick!

Some interesting selections :
- Armo and Jack on back flanks.
- Raph forward (although he has done this before at VFL level I would have thought they'd make a decision on his most suited position).
- Ross Tunga on-ball in the reserves - good to see.
- Cahill down back.
- LJ no longer in the extended squad for the seniors (although Howard is).

I'm also bemused by the non-naming of Eddy in the squads or the injury list.

Jeez you could make an argument for all 5 of those backmen to be in the Saints side.

Sandy must be over the moon with their new alignment.

Well it must be distracting them from playing well. They are tracking very ordinary this juncture.

I was at the game and it was my first VFL game for the year. Goose is way too good to be playing at that level. He looked like a man amongst boys and looked so much better then everyone else. Looks very good.:thumbsu:

Raph, Dempster and Gwilt were very good. Jack Steven and Stanley were solid but both made some bad decisions at times. Armo was decent but looked frustrated all day. Lynch was very good again presenting across half forward and did some clever things and some nice interceptions.

Can you elaborate a bit on Gwilty? People felt he was missed against Carlton. Also he wasn't actually in the best today.

Can you elaborate a bit on Gwilty? People felt he was missed against Carlton. Also he wasn't actually in the best today.

Gwilt was running through the midfield most of the day playing a different role to what he has with St Kilda. Didn't rack up huge numbers but everytime he had the ball he made good decisions as you would expect with a senior player who has only just returned to VFL. Lynch played that half forward role for Zebs very well.

I think we really need that medium sized half forward presenting across half forward for the saints. Schnieder and milne are to small. Gwilt is probably our best option but Lynch is not without a chance of a call up this year. It's an area we have really lacked in since Hammil's retirement. Gilbert was groomed pre-season to play that role but he's too good down back.

I felt like we missed Gwilt against Carlton. Riewoldt needs some support.
