Really mature innings from Ervine today.

Geez the lower ranked test nations can get starts but gee they struggle to convert. 7/8 batsmen today have made double digit scores, only one has gone on to a score with any substance. iirc, was a similar story in a game recently.

Windies biggest problem. Can't remember the last daddy hundred scored - Bravo hit a big one in NZ going back about 6 years, Braithwaite might have hit one.

Ervine just needs a comrade to hang around now. Tropiano can't be reverse sweeping 4 balls in. Just hold up an end
Looks like he listened to you, still there on 24 not out and has put on 60 odd with Ervine for the 9th wicket.

350 was always going to put them in the game. Whatever they get past this score is a bonus going forward. Bowlers need to stick to basics now and not go chasing wickets which has caused so many of the lower ranked sides misery over the years. Australia has been guilty of this so even the best can be sucked in.

Shaping up as a very good contest with Zimbabwe holding the upper hand.

Ervine is a terrific batsman, I reckon he'd be about a lock in any test side in the world right now. Can't think of many if any leggies more effective in test cricket than Cremer either, seems to be a top leader as well.

Herath holding it together for the Lankans with the ball as he often has done over the past near decade. Tharanga clearly is an immense talent, but always get the sense he just hasn't quite fulfilled what he is capable of despite having a pretty good record in tests and ODI for a very long stretch of time. Cover driving is exquisite. Nice to see a fighting innings from Chandimal too to give him some confidence after a bit of a tough stretch in coloured clothing.

Has been a very good contest from the Zimmers. Loving the fighting spirit that has been instilled in them since Heath Streak took over last year in a tumulutuous time for them.

Cremer has been very good for them in the last 12 months. Agree that Ervine is a very good batsmen but not sure he would get a game in every side in the world. Has had a very good 12 months of cricket (534 runs @ 66), 2018 shapes as a big year for he and Zimbabwe cricket.

Tours against Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in 2018 shape as an important time for Zimbabwe cricket as a whole to show how far have they really come.

Fantastic run out.

Pitch is starting to take turn so it will be interesting to see how the Zimbabwe batsmen handle it. They haven't handled it well in the past and Herath will be licking his lips.

Was meant to mention that the key player for the rest of the game is Rangana Herath. If Zimbabwe can stifle his impact on the game and scrath themselves to a lead of 200+ then they are right in this. In saying that, with a deficit of 63 and 3 wickets in the bank, if Zimbabwe can finish the SL tail off quickly they will put themselves right in the game.

add Brendan Taylor back to the team, and you're getting very close to a international-standard batting lineup. Just need to get a few decent quicks.

I assume because Chakabva is the better keeper.

Bit like if Wade and Neville were ever in the same team
i guess so, but Wade and Neville would never be picked in the same side. It's a strange selection - esp as Chakabva batted #8 in test against NZ and now he's opening.

Would be interesting if Taylor will come back to Zimbabwe after this year - afaik he signed a three year deal with Notts straight after the 2015 World Cup, of which this is the last year. With a chance at World Cup qualification and potentially more tests with the introduction of Afghanistan and Ireland it may be the right time for him to come back. Maybe even Kyle Jarvis as well.

What's with Zimbabwe wearing green? Already got Aussies, South Africa and Pakistan in green. Red or orange is their colour.

Looking like another great come back by Zimbabwe. PJ Moor looking very composed out there.

Watching on a live stream

Fantastic batting by Moor & Sikander here. Really composed for the most part with a couple of hairy moments here and their. A nice lead of 155 with 5 wickets (and two set batsmen) still in hand.

With 2.5 days left to play, they should be aiming to bat the Lankans out of this match and push for 250 - 300 in front.
