most noticeable thing is...now before the ball is thrown back in...the ump had to look back again....again...again before all is ok (or not) for him to proceed...

No problem with this. The idea is that teams need to learn to keep their players close enough to their correct zones. Teams that allow their players to venture too far away will get punished. That is what is supposed to happen and as time goes on the teams will get more used to it.

I am not saying zones are the answer, I personally prefer the 15 or 16 a side idea, but let the rule play out and see what happens.

This won’t fly, as the constant stopping to make sure everyone is in their zone will piss everyone off.

For those who know, how does the last touch out of bounds, free kick to opposition thing work in the SANFL?
