Alex Docherty reviews the list changes, from lowest to highest on the 2014 ladder.

The trades have been made and free agents secured or lost. Draft picks, from the raw talented kids to mature age recruits, selected. Rookies have been added, some of them merely staying at the same club albeit under a different designation. And even the international project players identified and given an opportunity in a new sport.

That’s all folks, AFL team lists are now finalised for season 2015 and BigFooty is here to asses how your team, along with the 17 others, fared.

ADELAIDE

In:

Traded: Kyle Cheney, Luke Lowden (Both traded from Hawthorn)

National Draft: Jake Lever (Pick 14), Harrison Wigg (Pick 35), Mitch McGovern (Pick 43), Harry Dear (Pick 58)

Rookie Draft: Reilly O’Brien (Pick 8), Keenan Ramsey (Pick 27),  Anthony Wilson (Pick 44)

Rookie Elevation: Charlie Cameron

Out:

Retired: Ben Rutten, Jason Porplyzia

Delisted: Angus Graham, Shaun McKernan, Jared Petrenko, Lewis Johnston, Luke Thompson, Alex Spina , James Battersby

Overview: Adelaide desperately needed a key defender to cover the retirement of Ben Rutten and help out All-Australian, Daniel Talia, a situation made all the more grave by Gold Coast and GWS respectively ruining the Crows key defensive succession pkans. They vertainly got what they need in Jake Lever. With a few questions over gis ability ti play as a genyine key defender at 193cm, Lever slipped further down the order than many expected although he was never going to get past the Crows at pick 14. Lever has all the makings of a superb key defender when has matured physically and in terms of adjusting to the pace of senior football. At the trade table, Adelaide went for some experienced insurance with the acquisition of ginger journeyman defender Kyle Cheney and ruckman Luke Lowden from Hawthorn. While Cheney isn’t overly tall, he can be effective as a key defender. The Crows continued to shore up their thin key position stocks later in the national drafts bringing in key forward, Mitch McGovern and forward Harry Dear who can also pinch hit in the ruck. Small defender, Harrison Wigg brings a sweet left foot and general touch of class with his disposal.

COLLINGWOOD

In:

Traded: Travis Varcoe (From Geelong), Jack Crisp (From Brisbane Lions), Levi Greenwood (From North Melbourne)

National Draft: Jordan De Goey (Pick 5), Darcy Moore (Pick 9, Father/Son) Brayden Maynard (Pick 30), Matthew Goodyear (Pick 48)

Rookie Draft: Michael Manteit (Pick 8), Brenden Abbott (Pick 26), Tony Armstrong (Pick 43), Mason Cox (Pick 60)

Rookie Elevation: Jack Frost

Out:

Traded: Dayne Beams (To Brisbane), Heritier Lumumba (To Melbourne)

Retired: Nick Maxwell, Quinten Lynch, Luke Ball, Ben Hudson, Kyle Martin

Delisted: Caolan Mooney, Marty Clarke, Peter Yagmoor, Tony Armstrong (Rookie listed)

Overview: After losing Dayne Beams, Heritier Lumumba and Luke Ball, the Pies needed to address their midfield stocks, and did so by selecting Jordan De Goey with their first pick at the AFL Draft. De Goey is hard, tough and skilful, as befits a top five pick. Brayden Maynard is as tough as De Goey but perhaps lack some of the higher picks class. Ex-Roo, Levi Greenwood will be out to prove that his breakout 2014 was no fluke while former Cat, Travis Varcoe brings speed and creativity, provided he can stay on the park while former Lion Jack Crisp adds versatility in the Collingwood squad. But while the Beams trade dominated the headlines, Collingwood’s acquisition of giant ruck/forward Darcy Moore at pick 9 via the father/son rule is the move that will have the most impact for the Pies in the long term. The kid is an out and out gun and an absolute steal for the Pies at pick 9. Nathan Buckey will be very pleased with the changes to his list.

GOLD COAST SUNS

In:

Traded: Mitch Hallahan (From Hawthorn)

Free Agency: Nick Malceski (From Sydney Swans)

National Draft: Peter Wright (Pick 8), Jarrod Garlett (Pick 15), Touk Miller (Pick 29

Rookie Draft: Josh Glenn (Pick 7), Adam Saad (Pick 25), Keegan Brooksby (Pick 42), Tyrone Downie (Pick 59), Greg Broughton (Pick 67), Andrew Raines (Pick 71)

Rookie Elevations: Andrew Boston, Josh Hall

Out:

Retired: Nathan Bock, Tom Murphy, Karmichael Hunt

Delisted: Campbell Brown, Jackson Allen, Matthew Warnock, Jeremy Taylor, Leigh Osbourne, Jack Hutchins, Greg Broughton (Rookie-Listed)

Overview: Having stockpiled so many high draft picks and been astute in the recruitment of established players, there were very few glaring holes in the Gold Coast list. Yet they managed to inprove, on paper at leastm during the trading and drafting period. For Sydney premiership player and All-Australian Nick Malceski would walk into every team in the competition. Mitch Hallahan has served a healthy apprecenticeship at Hawthorn and will be aiming to get some game time at the Suns after being stuck behind the likies of Mitchell and Lewis at the Hawks. At the draft, the Suns went for the best available player at their pick, snaring highly rated ruck/rorward, Peter Wright, the lightning quick Jarrod Garlett and hardnosed midfielder, Touk Miller. Gold Coast also pulled off a coup by rookie listing Andtew Raines after the quietly effective Andrew Raines was cut by Brisbane.
