I think I must overrate him. I’d have been half keen on him if we didn’t have Caddy in the wings.

I thought he was going to be top 3 rucks in the comp a few years ago - 100% having a down year. 29’s just a bit of a weird age imo - is he old enough to accept not being no.1?

Is the commentary a bit harsh? I don’t want him either (given our current forwards), but he’s not a terrible player, is he? If I’m North I’d be trying to hang on to him.

I’m all for looking at another ruck option, but O’Brien’s not the answer for mine. All he’s good at is accumulating hitouts. His skills are poor even for a ruck and he can’t hold a mark - and doesn’t kick goals. And will be 29 in two months - and would need to be traded for.

A total guess without anything to back it up, but I get the feeling he might just turn in to a bit of a knob when he’s had a few.

He did say “He’s been ripping through the VFL like it’s far below him” - that’s not true. I personally thought he was a bit better in the VFL last year.

He did not give Caddy, “plenty of chances”. He ‘dropped’ him as soon as he could. And we just watched Jones, Langford and Wright kick 1 goal between them.

He doesn’t pick teams based on form unfortunately, or Caddy would still be in (was omitted due to the “flu”)
