    Jake Waterman Amnesty

On behalf of all of us who have long had a man crush on Waterman, I thought it only fair to offer an amnesty to all those that thought Jake was only WAFL quality, too tall, too short, too slow, too lazy, too goal hungry, too good looking, too... whatever it was that held you back from admitting...

Prediction Round 7, 2024: Changes vs Gold Coast

Surely if there is no WAFL then being sub again is better than nothing to build form? I think I'd prefer L Edwards anyway but think you may have contracticted yourself a tad there.

Training Preseason Training Thread - 2024

Yep, I can see that... Williams taps it down to Darling, the footy bounces off Darling's chest towards our forward 50. Reid scoops it up one handed in traffic and delivers it lace out to Allen on the lead...

Thanks for the quality updates - much appreciated. From what you've seen to date, are any of our younger players showing any signs of developing AFL standard BSDs?

List Mgmt. Trade & Draft Discussion 2023 post season - Picks Reid,30,40,49,66 (Bush league)

Thanks for the insights BOND 007, much appreciated! Can you talk us through trading our future 3rd to move up 2 spots to secure Hall - did you have intel that the bombers were keen? or just don't put much value in a future 3rd?

It pains me to like anyone associated with the BODE but how can you not like this lad after his reaction to his mate being unexpected selected in the first round. Was great to see them do the quick polo top change for Phoenix to wear on stage too.

Just trying to catch up now. What's the consensus, just take Reid? or has this already been discussed?

Collingwood/Maynard annoy me how they phrase things with their "footy act" and "moved out of his lane" rubbish. I agree with that.

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

I'll agree to disagree on the rest of your post but just to clarify: it isn't in anyway Brayshaw's fault. I've already said that. I've never said it was his fault and can't remember seeing anyone else saying that. Saying that Maynard didn't know which direction Brayshaw would move in is not the...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

Im not blaming Brayshaw at all. The point is whether Maynard could reasonably predict that when he jumps to smother he is going to land on Brayshaw and the tribunal decided (and I agree with) that: "We accept a reasonable player would have foreseen at the moment of committing to the act of...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

I think this is a very unfortunate accident that would be almost impossible to replicate on purpose. AFL might over react and make a new rule for something that will never happen again anyway. Are we going to get AFL players leaping for the ball in the hope that as they land the opponent is...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

It wasn't "only" based on insufficient time. Read the whole thing. Once they decided it was reasonable to go for the smother and the It wasn't reasonable for Maynard to have predicted the outcome they then looked at whether he had sufficient time to do something other than brace for contact. I...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

The tribunals rationale said nothing about it being a football action. It was a question or whether Maynard was careless in deciding to smother and if he should have reasonably been able to predict that he would land on Brayshaw at the time he jumped for the ball.

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

For me the big difference with a bump or tackle is that you are intentionally making contact with the other player and the onus is on you to do that safely. Maynard didnt intentionally make contact and was already in mid air when he knew that contact would occur. If someone takes a mark and...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

Have to agree to disagree here, I don't think it's reasonable to say he launched himself at Brayshaw, when he left the ground he has no way of knowing that Brayshaw will change direction.
  24. GlennTwenty

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

That's just wrong plain and simple. Any reasonable viewing of the footage can see he clearly jumped to smother and had eyes for the ball. At the end of the day Maynard launched forward into the air and smothered the ball, and then landed on a player running in the opposite direction and got him...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade & Draftee Discussion, 2023: Picks 1,20,34,39,53 ,58

Presumably because there is still a chance they may be offered a contract depending on whether we trade in players or not, if other players don't accept a deal they have been offered, if other players are looking to leave, etc I doubt we want to draft more than 5=6 players including rookies...

Curious who you think is top 15 and who the jury is still out on? Maric has well exceeded my expectations. Culley I'm worried about.
