Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

What's our plan for bringing in a+ talent over the next few years. We probably now dont finish low enough bottom 3 or have the destination to bring in elite free agents? So would be good for welsh and rosa to have an aligned strategy on that. Do we still trade up? Or somehow get another top...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Generally clubs bounce back quicker after losing best player than they do holding onto disgruntled players. Did we win trade period again? What's the best case realistic scenario for us and merret over the next few years? I think we made a stance stuck to it and can probably minimise the...

Club Mgmt. Board of Directors as led by President Andrew Wealshy

Not a fan. Dodoro mate, dodoro clone but as president.

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

Im more interested in helping us win a flag than stopping the hawks.

Supposed they didn't try 4x 1sts with future 2nd and 3rd going back.

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

I have zero concerns on rosa. Welsh making the decisions I have serious concerns with.

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

Time to get behind him. Feels a bit too emotive and purely a welsh move for me but also felt petracca and curnow deals were better than what we got offered anyway so we move on. Hope some players put out the olive branch now. Long time before round 1. Hope he is well supported round 1.

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

Rosa replacing dodoro is the difference. Trust in rosa.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Seeing the curnow and petracca offers. The hawks offer is well unders for this trade period. Merret better player, his skillset should age better and also a better injury history than both so will see if hawks throw a comparable market rate trade our way.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Any non-merret trades for us tomorrow? Feels a bit meh off season so far and expect a 12-16 finish next year. No better, no worse just a better run with injuries.

I hope so. Presidents involved in list management?

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

Does anyone know if merret stays we are still upping his contract again? Also is it common for presidents to be so involved in list management decisions? I would still trade him if a better deal presents but am okay if we are keeping him for tge right reasons as opposed tp emotional or ego...

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2025 - Picks #4, #5 and three 2nds

Dodos mate getting involved in recruitment amd overstepping. What could go wrong? I dont mind being an observer or understanding the process rosa and the club goes through but this fills like a overstep.

As a more balanced poster, do you think fiorini and then also keeping merret at all costs demonstres a change in list and club strategy? Seems welsh driven but if I'm reading to much into it still on the longer term build then Ill take your word for it.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

I mean I swear the club said we would only be looking for free agents players from other clubs under 28 before the change of president. Its not like short term sugar fixes and using some season hope to appease disgruntled players hasn't held us back for the last decade. For me the critcism is...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

I like his leadership but I dont see how he fits into our next finals winning side on the wing. Yes will be much better for us on a wing in the short term 1-2 years and maybe we just need more proven hard running b graders whatever the position.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

The martin injury recovery as a reason for drafting a older replacement is stupid list management. We should not care about trading/drafting for next year. We need to stick to our mid to long strategy. So yes martin is a mid to long term wing option. I still think its probsbly his best position...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

I just like Clarke and duursma more for there aerial prowess and toughness. What fiorinis point of difference. Also meant flexibility in terms of contracts and years. More money and more years than anyone isn't flexibility. If we are not keeping cox and Jones as utilities and wing options...

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2025 - Picks #4, #5 and three 2nds

Id hope our trade period shapes our draft strategy with fiorini coming across, fir example will we still draft Cumming if available? As from highlights Cumming seemed like could play wing at afl level. Ahead of sharp, Taylor, robey anyway.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Draft picks, flexibility and positions of need. Clarke, duursma, Martin are our wingers. Good elite running hff, small fwds, 2nd key position fwd, players with a point of difference. Players under 27 Any of the above criteria.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

I dont mind the thinking behind tall wingers in jones/Cox or like the toughness/ aerial approach of duursma and Clarke. Im probably not familiar but dint see a 32 year old firioni in a finals winning team. I just see him getting a 4 year good money contract but doesn't offer a point of...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

What list needs does fiorini fill and why 4 years? I feel like we are falling into offer longer deals for b graders so we continue to be mediocre. Not even from a successful club so I hate it. Clarke/martin and Duursma as 1st choice wings. We also kept both jones and cox on our list as...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Its also early so I can revisit at the end of the trade period but I am concerned early. Draper compo/ stance, merret stance, firioni - 3 uninspiring decisions. If you were happy to have draper leave for pick 20 at least thank him at the bnf.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Look at each day passes, i have less confidence in the direction of the club. Feel like we are hell bent on keeping merret based on optics, adding some older b and c graders to be more competetive. I was a unashamed barnham fan and probably over analysing every update/public commentary but...

Footy Dept. GM-List & Recruiting and Talent & Operations Manager Matt Rosa

I think its a whole of club consistent approach to these things. Mainly driven by more senior roles than rosa but a passing comment on dissapointed at draper compensation nor higher but still a strong draft hand would have been nice.

Coach Men's Coaches 2026 - Gia to the Hawkes, linked to Hinkley...

Im not overly excited by our overall coaching group. However, it's purely based off names, media hype (lack thereof), and lack of originality in game style. Although scott/senior group seems to trt mix things up, try things a bit more over the last two years. Draper - FF, tall wingman...

AFL Player 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Staying Put

Feels like we are taking a stance and making a decision based on emotion and optics, not what is actually good for the club. Should be calculated decisions that are likely to leas us to success. Emotion of favourite sons as coach worked out well.

I dont think the saints will want even that much. Seems a contract off the books new approach deal, like mitchell/lewis leaving hawks.

Footy Dept. GM-List & Recruiting and Talent & Operations Manager Matt Rosa

In Rosa we trust. Few things against him but will have picks and money. Im confident ill be happy with what we walk away with. Its pretty poor if west coast get band 1 plus the end of first round. We probably need to discreetly go to the club and say it's not just injuries. Were losing...

    AFL Player 25: Jaxon Prior - Re-signed for another year! - 10/9

In my best 23 teams I always forget about him. Is maybe 1st drop if we had a 100% fit defense. Which never happens.
