AFL stand alone Reserves teams change

Yes a off-season topic.

But to make the VFL less looking like the AFL Reserves, the stand alone AFL Reserves teams go back to their original name or logo, or both.

Thus

Collingwood - Britannia Magpies

Essendon - Essendon Blood Stained Black Angels (the original can’t be used).

Western Bulldogs - Footscray Tricolours

Geelong Cats - Geelong Pivitonians

North Melbourne - Hotham Shinboners

Richmond - Richmond Wasps

It's a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen given the AFL teams are so set on brand continuity that most of them have even changed their partner clubs to reflect the AFL side (Box Hill Hawks, Northern Blues, etc).

Wont happen but have always thought it would a novel idea and a link to their past if AFL / VFL sides carried the name of their original home - Windy Hill, Victoria Park etc
