Review DOGS INTO THE GRAND FINAL FEEEEKYEAAAAH!

I can’t bloody believe how wrong I was at draft time being pissed we went the safe option with ‘vanilla’ Smith. Anything but, the guy could be the best player in the game in 5 years time, he’s just got it. I hate how people call him an arrogant flog (“who will be desperate to get to a big club like the hawks” ), every time he speaks he just sounds like the most humble down to earth bloke ever who just loves playing for his mates. Will be a dog for life
Baz was the last one left of the "Super 7". We had no choice (not that there was one, we all knew he was a jet).

Who else could you possibly have preferred?

Quite the stereotype you've got going there, Piesnchess!

Although you've reminded me of an old teaching colleague from Sth Gippsland who was a Melbourne supporting MCC member.

Always went to the game in a cravat...:rolleyesv1: :D
ha ha, yes, they do exist though, the typical MCC Deeeees fan, James Dribblesworth the 3rd, " i say, our lads do look very spiffing today, dont they, oh jolly good mark, to whats his name? oh well played sir, oh darn these feral Collingwood fans, from their working class slums, go home u dastardly Bolshie socialists, get back to ur slums, u cads". And im only half joking here !

So, Melbourne beat us in contested ball in both meetings this year. What gives you hope we can win the contested ball this time? Or do we even need to?

As I recall Essendon absolutely smashed us out of the middle r 21 and then Port did the same to us r 23.

‘Then look what happened in our respective finals against those teams.

Is Montagna stupid enough to believe we will play the same way as rounds 11 and 19?

It's going to be such a great day, but the closer it gets, the more bittersweet it is.

Our Melbourne based fans have been through so much the last two years, unable to attend games for the majority of the time, locked down and we now miss out on the very rare gem that is us in a Grand Final.

Is it selfish to say we deserved the chance to see our team in a Grand Final for just the second time in 67 years in Melbourne? Yeah, it is, but no apologies. There's no other state or city in the country that deserved a break, like a big Grand Final and all that comes with it, as much as Melbourne. Anyway, not much can be done.

So it'll be laughing, smiling and jumping around the loungeroom, but also shedding a happy and sad tears as well. 😔
At least many of us got 2016. Softens the blow a lot for me.

If (God forbid) Melbourne wins their fans will be livid. I go to a lot of their games with some of their supporters and they are all already shattered.

The clown has written us off before every final. Every one. Ignore.

Interesting that neither team has lost a final yet this season.

Not that unusual if both teams were proceeding from the top 4 but a little unusual with one team taking the long way round from 5th.

In 2016 we also failed to lose a final but our opponents Sydney did, losing the 1st final in a 1st v 4th against GWS sending them the long way round.

Harmes? tagged Libba which proved an effective strategy . It was then copied by other teams during the season. Libba was almost our top mid in early season.

We’ve worked our way through that one. Drew kept Libba in check last week but we still smashed their midfield. Libba’s learnt how to work his way through the sniping and so have Bev and the team. Dunks is a massive in. Macrae is in beast mode. Bont can go in there too.

It was 100% the correct call yet also 100% not in the spirit of the game. Richo put it so well, Adz had been doing that his entire life and suddenly you have to train your mind to not do that. Maybe a 15m penalty instead?

I've always been of the opinion from the start that it should only ever have been a 15m penalty. 50m for a slight move is an absolute joke.

Better yet, just piss it off and go "east - west" like we used to. The stand rule has been shown to do absolutely naff all for scoring levels after the first 3 rounds. Just more shit for the umpires to have to think about and interpret.

With Dunks and Treloar back in, we can rotate Libba out if required. Good position to be in.

If they focus too much on Libba I think it will be to their detriment as we have easy ways around it, which will then require them to change significant plans IMO.
