Is Samson Ryan in another country? What’s happened to this guy
Watching him yesterday soft as butter in the ruck. He ain't improving going backwards perhaps another losing interest although I never thought he was much good.

Yeah that's too much experience cut IMO. I'd be giving Pickett and Prestia one year deals. Potentially Dusty too if he's playing injured.
What is that experience going to do for you? apart from Baker, the others are offering nothing.

Yeah, but you have to find them a spot next season if they're any good. Plus the 5+ we'll take in the ND and RD.

Which 9 are you cutting, trading or retiring?
Martin
Prestia
Pickett
Grimes
McIntosh
Graham
Baker
Colin
Hayes-Brown

Elevate a couple of rookies to the main list and leave any MSD kid as a rookie

Thing with Ryan is rarely do you see him just go clunk with his marking , even when under no pressure often a juggle. I’d Bring in Bella or May with a later pic as a future ruck prospect

Help us not become the next Norf. Cutting too deep never works.

Colina and OHB are catBs so they don't count and if we keep Colina, he has to be elevated. One of Pickett and McIntosh will stay IMO. As will Prestia.

It’s likely that of the players taken in the MSD you’d be lucky if one is good enough to keep. So you’re not taking 9 spots. Likely 6.

Jack Graham (FA), Grimes retired, Prestia (retire or trade), Baker likely leaving, Possibly Dusty or Rioli leaving and that’s before you even start to interrogate the list. Also you don’t have to list any MSD player on the senior list. You can offer to rookie them.

Also remember we can trade players in prior to the draft or out.
Yeah, I agree. That's why Inthink there's not a chance we take 4 picks in the MSD. It'd be a waste of time, we need long term players, not free depth to challenge for finals.

Good chance neither will be playing best 22 by seasons end. We will shortly start getting players back and some of the new young players are playing better than them, and others might come in still. Pickett is playing much like last season, mr. patch up, which is hard on him in some respects, but he had a chance to play midfield on Saturday and was woeful.

Similarly MacIntosh was back in, not based on his good game in the VFL from the wing, he did nothing on the wing, 5 or 6 possessions at half time. He came back in based on his good second half playing midfield. Back onto the wing in the AFL and he played his usual average game.

It is not cutting deep cutting players who are best 16-25 on our list, especially at the age when they will go down hill further.

We need Prestia, Graham and Dusty at the very least else get used to ten years of pure misery that will make 2024 seem like a flag year.

Rioli is not going unless we get a really good offer. He is contracted to 2027.

Is There a player like Harley Reid available in the MSD?.

Gees the kid can play…awesome to watch

To think lol Norf let him slip through their fingers…dickheads
Must be something with the name Melbourne.
Dees let Dusty slip
Norf with Reid.

Prestia may rebound, he's due some luck. Graham is not best 22 and loyalty is the only thing that has kept him best 22. Dusty is just up and running and will be 33 turning 34 next season. Nobody lasts forever. If we are relying on those 3 next season, and a few others, we are in misery alright.

If we need them then we're in more trouble than people think. Martin and Prestia are no longer elite level players. They'll have their games where they wind back the clock but we're not getting full seasons at that level. Graham is a role player, and while I can see him having a role in our best midfield Ross Dow & McAuliffe can cover just as easy and for less money than Graham would get.

They do count as you have 44 players on your list including senior list, rookies & Cat B rookies. Pissing them off frees up 2 spots for kids who aren't needing to learn the game before they're able to run out in the VFL.

I like your optimism but nothing so far this season suggests our injury luck will turn any time soon, in fact its getting worse.

Pickett got shifted forward once Lefau got injured, and we know that's not him jam. He didn't attend one centre bounce.

No they don't. CatBs are outside of the primary list. If you delist a CatB, it does not free up a spot for a National/Rookie draftee.

IIRC they changed it after Covid so that list sizes are capped at 44 total players, with 36-38 senior listed and 6-8 rookies with no more than 3 Cat B rookies allowed.

This year we have 36 senior players, 6 rookies and 2 Cat B rookies which gave us 44 players. If the Cat B rookies were delisted we would free up 2 spots.
