The VFA carnival has kicked off down in Craigieburn

Here is today's schedule

You can watch it here Northern Bullants v Williamstown - Trials 2023
Would be great if Port played Willi at Barry Rounds old Club in 2024 (Warragul). The Bloods had a historic relp. with the Borough and Barry was a legend.

Comedy of errors from Brisbane at the end there but somehow hold on for a 1 point win over Werribee.

Suns up by more than 20 against Williamstown and Southport are smacking Sandingham by 40+. Going to be a good day for Queensland footy.
It's taken me a long time to understand why Geelong had such poor coverage of their VFL games

Seen the Suns with a 100 pt score at 1/2 time over them (Cats) last week and this week I'm watching Sandy outplaying the Suns on every line.

Sandringham playing at Moorabbin today and Preston vs Essendon is at North Port. What gives there, is Cramer St unplayable, or are the AFL trying to lure Bombers fans to the VFL before they play at Marvel today?

This didn't age well. Just remember kids, it's a four quarter game so don't be tempted into making assumptions after one quarter of play.

Suns remain undefeated in the VFL this year with a percentage of 188%. Can't really ask for a better start to the season.

Hard to read three rounds in. Casey and Brisbane will be good. Gold Coast have been good but haven't really played anyone yet. Will be an interesting round next week to get a gauge on teams like Essendon, Richmond and Collingwood

Yeah, hard to read with 21 teams and a few teams only playing two games so far.

I rate Casey and Brisbane as the top two teams at the moment and I think Southport will be among them again once they get a couple of problems sorted.

Gold Coast will be solid all year due to the ridiculous access to AFL talent.

Williamstown look solid and Werribee looked good against the Sharks at Fortress Fankhauser and the Lions in week 1.

Hard to get a read on Collingwood (smashed two stand-alones) but I think they'll be fairly even with Footscray, Richmond, Carlton, Geelong, Box Hill, Williamstown, Werribee

My bottom tier teams at the moment are Bullants, Coburg, GWS, Sydney, Frankston with North Melbourne only keeping themselves out of that group because they somehow beat the Sharks

I think Southport's lack of KPP's will be their undoing. Teams can expose that.

Crossley/Thurlow/Conroy is a solid duo that they can toss through the ruck and up forward, Thurlow had a fantastic game forward on the weekend. Townsend and Gowers will be a solid loss though. Their ball movement has been very dodgy and I think they'll still be able to bully a lot of young teams this year.

Perks of a long season is that I can call a team bad now and they can hit their straps in two weeks time and fly into finals.

Yeah, but we'll see if it's sustainable. All three are pretty slow. Not convinced by Werribee yet. Been burned by them so often.

Also no idea why Bowman is still there.

A little context? ;) Was my statement true at the time of post?

After the week b4 I expected ... well, more.

One thing I've noticed with the VFL this year compared to previous years is the lack of information around players. Most AFL club website just list names of their VFL players, no positions, height, weight etc.. I feel that the VFL has really dropped the ball in this regard. Not to mention no footy record.. SANFL and WAFL are set up so well when it comes to this.

It's forever improving though, this is the most coverage the competition has received but there are a few (myself included hopefully) trying to pick up the slack in the mean time.

Coburg are yet to update their playing roster on their own website, still running w 2022 list.

Port are just about to implode

Hanrahan walks out and now highest possession player Lentini has torn up his contract and walked

number young players ready to walk also as can’t be bothered under current flip-flop coach who rewards players who get 2 possessions with a game then drop 5 players averaging 23 possessions. WTF.

got sucked into the Bennel ‘another shot at AFL’ story plus others (Wilkinson) to change course from young development to trying to win a flag.

doubt coach will see season out especially if Frankston wins tomorrow
wow. this is huge if true.

It is

Lentini gone and few more will follow.

show we’re they are at with a bloke getting 2 possessions in r2 and then he drops all his top line players.

the amount of $$ thrown at Bennell for minimal return is a joke.

joint is a shambles

bring back Ayres
I just assumed Lentini was injured when he was omitted a couple of weeks ago. Nash Holmes not getting a game is a crime as well.
