EUFA EURO 2024 - Group Stage ⚽ EPL 24/25 starts Aug 17
Mark Keane was a cat b rookie. He never took a spot on the list and him leaving never granted us an MSD pick.We could rename this thread who will be better next season, Mark Keane or a wet lettuce? Mark Keane was not and never will be near the standard required to play in the AFL.
A mate of mine from Adelaide inquired about Keane when they recruited him and I told him all they were doing was wasting a spot on their list, him quitting Collingwood was a great result because the new coaches might have wanted to have a look at him for a season which might have prevented us from having a pick in the mid-season draft last year
Would he have had to be promoted to play? When Roughead retired would Keane have taken the spot or can he be picked to play as a cat B rookie?Mark Keane was a cat b rookie. He never took a spot on the list and him leaving never granted us an MSD pick.
The pick we had last year was from Roughead’s retirement.
Not anymore.Would he have had to be promoted to play? When Roughead retired would Keane have taken the spot or can he be picked to play as a cat B rookie?
They also still had McAsey at the time who was a former pick 6, who has since walked away.I get the impression that the crows were ok to let Frampton go because they could see what was coming with Murray and Butts. They have both been excellent for the Crows this year.
I said it early on as well Manic. Keane will struggle bigtime to play senior footy.Keene is going to have to get some super powers from somewhere if's he's to get to Frampton's level
Ireland was probably the main motivator.I said it early on as well Manic. Keane will struggle bigtime to play senior footy.
I think money was the main motivater for him coming back from Ireland.
Frampton just discovering his mojo ATM.
Not a trade but in a round a bout kind of way it is..G'day all, hope you don't mind the intrusion...I started reading your board's thoughts on Mark Keane on his dedicated thread before i came across this one...
Interesting that the majority of you didn't think he would make it, and even moreso after going back to Ireland for a few years (also interesting that a few of you were quite bullish on him, although you were definitely in the minority)...
I think Frampton has played a super important role for you, even moreso in light of Murphy's premature retirement...I rated him and don't think he was given that much opportunity at Adelaide...a poor game and he was often sent back to the SANFL where he would then dominate before getting another chance...rinse and repeat...I just think a bit more continuity would have given him more confidence, rather than always thinking he was one poor game away from being dropped (whereas McRae seems to have backed him in)...
Anyway, I think Keane has been a huge surprise packet...played some good games towards the end of last year but after spending the pre-season back in Adelaide instead of going back to Ireland, he's come on even further...takes a lovely grab, backs himself in to take the attacking option (some very occasional errors) and always prepared to fly the flag for his teammates...currently averaging 17.6 disposals and 6.7 marks per game...
Not that this was a trade or anything but I think both clubs have done well here...good luck for the rest of the season (except against us in a few weeks time...where you undoubtedly will defeat us by a margin under 10 points...again )...
