Lock in for the Top 8:
Sydney
Fremantle
Hawthorn
Geelong
Nth Melbourne
Collingwood
Richmond

Fighting for the last top 8 spot:
West Coast
Carlton
Pt Adelaide
Adelaide

The first monday after the end of Round 1 should be mad monday for the rest.

Richmond, Collingwood, and North are by no means a lock for top 8 positions. And I hate to say this, but you could possibly even throw us in that basket too should we have a poor year injury-wise (Hawkins and our rucks are the big ones here) and our younger players struggle to come to grips with additional responsibilities/roles as a result of several retirements.

On an unrelated note, going to have to revise my earlier ladder prediction now the trade period is largely completed and I've had time to sit down and think.

There was a big gap between 4th and 5th and a massive gap between 5th and the rest.
Geelong beat Port and Sydney beat Carlton in second gear in the finals.
The only team that can seriously challenge for top 4 are Richmond, but their game didn't stand up in finals.

Not sure why there would be doom & gloom for Geelong...Corey had clearly had enough, Pods was getting kicks at half back...IMO if Motlop produces next year he will overtake Cyril as the gun small bloke, Hawkins will be fit etc etc.

Adelaide and West Coast have to improve.
The only doubt I have is about Essendon. They haven't finished off a season in how long and next years interchange cap will impact them the most because they rely so heavily on 1 or 2 mids.
