It is sensible that Hird has been gagged and won't return to a match day role in 2014. I'm thankful the players can now stop worrying about the potential media circus... and instead focus their attention on the current media circus of his return to Melbourne... and the next media circus centred around why James isn't talking to the media... and then the media circus of why he isn't welcome in the coaches box

Further, I'd add, the club would almost certainly had it planned, Essendon have the bye this week best time to arrive home to let the spotlight come without effecting the team.

As I said, I'd think possibly it was leaked by someone to keep the media away. Otherwise the media would have waited at the airport all day for him, had someone over in France to spot the flight he was on etc.
