I'm not naive enough to think that under the table deals don't happen. However if a journalist is openly reporting it, you might as well make it open slather.

completely agree. it's a shame journo's like this only make a name for themselves by claiming being first to break news like this. especially when its so far away from the trade period, which is when it's supposed to be "legal" to begin these kinds of negotiations.

we were supposedly offerring 500k/yr over 3 years, compared to port's 750k/yr over 5 years. 500k would still be a pretty decently paid player in the league.

The thing about trading is. We don't need to rate him.. His ours to lose..

Not necessarily true. He can walk into the PSD and no other club would dare take him for the money we're offering him. Especially if he doesn't want to play there. Imagine another club taking him and playing in the reserves on 700k a year. It would absolutely destroy the club's list management.

Both teams have to come to an agreement here. But Port do have the upper hand since he requested a trade to us. The point in life is to Buy Low and Sell High. You're basically being forced into selling Low.

Bang on target - Brisbane are bleeding players, will have a ton of cap room, a desperate need for a KPF and Dixon is a QLD player and once he is signed to a 5 year deal there is not much of a flight risk...they can easily match any offer that Port ask Dicko to take to the PSD so the risk of Port not getting him if they want to play dirty pool is very real.
