I've been waiting for the new skylake chips thinking about something like the below

GPU MSI Geforce GTX980 TI 6GB
CPU i7 6700
MB MSI H170 Gaming M3
RAM Kingston Hyper x Fury DDR4 8gig (upgrade to 16g later)
SSD Crucial BX100 250GB
HD Seagate Baracudda 2TB
PSU EVGA Supernova G1 Gold 650W
Case Thermaltake Chaser A21

Read up on the new ATI cards and DX12, sounds like they might be good after all

I currently own a PS3 and am thinking about switching to gaming on PC instead of upgrading to PS4.

I don't have any interest in MMOs or other online multiplayer games like Codblops, so I imagine I won't need anything too fancy. I mostly play series like Uncharted, Bioshock, Arkham, Diablo.

What would be a realistic budget? I don't want to spend a ton of money.

Have a look at the links below (keep in mind the prices on reddit are USD expect to pay a bit more here) you can build a pc that will perform better than a console for under $1000. Are you proficient enough to build it yourself or have a friend that can help because that's where you will save most of your money over a pre-built system

so i finally went and bought a PC currently putting it together. Decided to go with AMD setup because of the price point differences which allowed me to splurge on a better card: every things from ARC.

R9-390X (8 gb) STRIX edition: $589.91
fx-6300 (3.5) black edition: $159.75
Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0: $154.90
seagate 1tb HDD: $79.00
wireless card: $22.90
coolmaster tower: $111.67
dvd combo burner: $25.00
750W coolmaster PSU: $121.23
8gig hyper x low profile: $84.90
120GB SSD card: $71.99

Total Price: $1421.25

i've got an unused windows 10 CD key from a mate so i don't need to buy an OS.

Personally it's not a CPU I would touch these days, it's a 3 year old CPU using an obsolete socket. You may have been better off sacrificing a little on GPU performace for a CPU/motherboard that'll last a little longer, as it's a hell of a lot easier/cheaper to upgrade a GPU later on.

It should perform nicely now, but you may find that CPU will be a bottleneck in the future.

not as obsolete as you'd think it supports everything up to the Fx9000 series so i have a few options for more power before i'd have to switch out the board.

Sorry about the bump but I guess this is better than starting a new thread.

I'm looking to put together a new gaming rig over the next month or so with a $1500 budget. That doesn't include the build cost as I have a friend for that or the OS.

The thing is I have no clue when it comes to parts or what works with what. As long as it can run newish games at max settings I'll be happy.

So if anyone could put a quick build together and give me a run down of what does what I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

The same links that have been posted many many times will help you out here, look up 3-4 posts

I'm looking to know what will perform better with what I just want to know if these parts will be compatible together. Spent a bit of time over the weekend getting different builds from people and messing around with it with a mate. Came up with this.

Bare in mind i'm not to fussed about playing future AAA titles at ultra settings so waiting for the next gen of GPU isn't really a big deal for me.
