Roast Essendon in no mans land

Pfft. That wasn’t a humiliation. We know how to do EF humiliations, see 2009, 2011, 2017, 2019, 2021

Relatable. I feel like I need a shower with a brillo pad

AFL Player #23: Harrison Jones - God-tier Hands

The cymbal hands are back, can’t decide if that has anything to do with the one ruck or not. Shows potential and should be persisted with but it’s little more than glimpses atm

Roast Essendon in no mans land

You need us, 50% of North’s flags (100% of those in the last 45 years) needed a 1pt Essendon prelim loss the week before

AFL Toast Nailbiter against The West Coast

I’ll take it. 4pts over there is never assured. The great thing for mine is we were challenged, looked done and fought for it. Same as ANZAC day and not rolling over in that second quarter. Same as giving up a start against the Saints. Same as Jamarra looking like he was gonna rip that dogs game...

Preview Round 9: Essendon vs The Orange Team, Marvel Stadium, Saturday 11th May, 4:35pm

First game this season where we’ve got an actual home ground advantage against a travelling opponent having had 4 neutral Melbourne games and 4 interstate disadvantages. Will be a good test for us, particularly the mental side of things which has been our biggest challenge for as long as I can...

AFL Player # 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Your ANZAC Day Medallist - 25/4

Indefatigable is a good one for him. He’s a rare combination of outrageous skill and grit. The kick to Gresham last night was obscene, two great right foot goals, he’s ascended and doing it all now. The goal kicking is his last infinity stone.

AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell aka Farnsy

I was ready to bring out the screens but he’s working hard and doing the right things. Might try microwaving a steak in his honour.

I wonder if being perceived as the better twin gave him a bit of head wobble and Ben a bit more edge. Seems like Ben just gets to his business and Max struts without cause

Game Day Round 8 - West Coast v Essendon, Data Breach Stadium, Sunday 8/5/24, 8.10pm AEST

Effort is what I want to see. Be hard to play against. Consistent. Mental application. Do all that and we likely win but if we don’t and have had a real crack then I’m ok with it (I don’t live in Perf and have to deal with these campaigners on the daily tho)

Have to rest Goldy, too long in a plane for the old boy. Dos back to the dos not the unos mate. Hayes debut if he plays alright today. Guelfi in for Goldy and get some actual forward half pressure, he’s not amazing at it but it’s better than we’re gonna get out of a tall and being a Perf boy...

His old man is a butcher by trade and seems that has translated to Jayden’s ball use. Back to the 2s my boy

AFL Autopsy RND 7: Draw Against The Pies

Part of me is disappointed not to get the win. Another part of me just watched us have psychological fortitude, heart and system we’ve not seen in decades. Skill errors will always be there, the way we played though against one of the best was great, getting up and going again time and again...

It’s this thing called depth, having quality players in the 2s is something we haven’t had in 30 years so I get you’re unfamiliar. You are assuming a level of health we haven’t had in just as long too so it’ll be a good problem to have if it ever happens

AFL Toast RND 6: Win Against The Crows

It was a free against Draper but surely it was holding the ball on Walker about 5 seconds earlier, tried the fend off and didn’t get a legal disposal. In any case, would’ve been rough to lose that, bad kicking is bad football but the rest was TOUGH
