There was an episode in earlier seasons where he called his new gf, was it "doll" or "babe" or something similar and he then had to call everyone by the same name to maintain the peace.

Noticed with the passing of Richard Lewis, how much he seemed to have aged in last nights episode.
The scene with Ted and Larry, and the pen, takes me back to the Seinfeld episode with Morty and Jack Klompus.
