Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

Is his kicking bad?

Not really...if you watch him live and on video it's servicable, if consistent.

What I love is he can take a mark and has a massive tank.

Will reprise the high lead up role Mooney used to play.

And he loves us

I always like it when we draft a Cats supporter :thumbsu:

And happy birthday to you PO :thumbsu:

I agree...pity Walks didn't live long enough to see it happen but he'd be quite happy.

Thanks re birthday...I can go have a celebratory lunch now :thumbsu:

(and my gf will be happy about no more drafts for a while lol)

Played footy with his father - god i feel old! :D

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

Good stuff knew we were going to get him when he was available.

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

If we used that last pick in the ND in the late 50s we probably would have picked Walker anyway, so as usual Wellsy was on top of the situation and knew he would still most likely be around come pick 23 in the rookie draft.

Seems a well rounded drafting period given Bathie gives some scope as a mobile albeit raw tall hopefully too and who knows maybe Geelong will consider him in a defensive role, so just looking forward to seeing them all now with the hope we have done pretty well again.

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

I reckon players turn out 5% better if drafted by the club they supported as a kid than if someone else gets them. So yay.

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

Party alright! finally we get a tall player of key position potential.

But two at 180cm, Wells just carn't help himself.

Anyway, least we got Josh onboard, hope he's more fortunate than Mitch B was in his first season and has a great year in the 2's.

Congratulations big fella!

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

So how come this guy slipped through to the rookie draft?

According to afl.com.au

Lead-up forward who works as hard as any teenager in the game. Runs up and back like Nick Riewoldt but just lacked the polish to be taken in the NAB AFL Draft.

Re: 2010 Rookie Draft selection no. 23 - Joshua Walker

Cool, we've apparently picked up Nick Riewoldt with #23 of the Rookie Draft, what a bargain. They might as well not bother with the comments about the players; most of the time it's impossible to tell if the kid they're referring to has been a first round pick, or the last pick of the rookie draft.

I reckon players turn out 5% better if drafted by the club they supported as a kid than if someone else gets them. So yay.

I'd like to know how you could possibly evaluate this...

Seems like those size statistics of pick 40 George Burbury go back to his U16 days, ATM, George is 186 and 80 kgs, according to his sister, and still growing. I guess she should know!
So if this is right, we've got a good spread.

That's still shorter than Bartel...below 190cm basically means they can not play KP in the modern game.
