Hawthorn pays us pick 12 for Shaun Rehn
We pay pick 12 for Matthew Bode
West Coast pays us pick 12 (and 28) for Tyson Stenglein
We pay pick 12 for Scott Thompson

They got a lot better service out of Rehn that we got out of Bode.

That's very debatable.

Rhen played 33 games in 2 years for Hawthorn - averaged 10 disposals and 13 hit-outs per game. A massive 3 marks per game as well.

2 years of a fading struggling ruckman for pick 12 is p*ss-poor value.

In return we gave away that pick 12 to Port for an honest hard-working but average mid-fielder in Bode.

55 games for an average of a tickle over 15 disposals per game in 4 and a third years is more worthy of a 2nd or 3rd round pick - not pick 12.

Adelaide won the trade with Hawthorn, but blew its usage of the pick.

I just say Rehn because we traded away one of our greatest ever players (and my favourite) at a cost many at the time considered was too low, got a dud in return for our payment.

Rhen wasn't necessarily a failure at Hawthorn - his service for them was very good in his first season, but you could see his heart was no longer in it. Adelaide was the place he wanted to stay, but certain incidents got in the way of that and he was forced to live...

A sad end to the career of one of our finest ever...
