Fantastic game by Box Hill. Casey at their home ground is one of hardest tasks in football so winning by 41 is exceptional. All the Box Hill boys were fantastic contributors. Brown, Porter & Rule (used as a tall winger) led from the front and everyone played their role well.

Meek was BOG, dominating his less experienced opponents with HTA and great link play. Kicked 2 goals and took a handful of marks. He also dropped a handful. He really demands the ball at this level.
Butler was a close second. He faded in and out but when he was 'in' he looked exceptional, evading tackles and looking speedy while tackling himself. Kicked 3.2 with 21 touches.
Hustwaite had game high clearances and used it really well. 7 tackles with 22 disposals. Wish he won a bit more of the ball but whenever he does his handballs and kicks are class.
Phillips was a great defensively. Inflated his stats a bit early but took many intercept marks in the second half when Casey were pressing. Plays within his limitations when linking up.
Serong was exceptional. His defensive work is good but his kicking to set us up was elite today.
Morrison played a quietly great game, provided options with his run and accumulated well.
Bennetts does so many good things but lacks polish. Evasive at ground level and constantly pressures but his finishing lets him down. Kicked 0.3.
Ramsden constantly threatened with contested marking against an AFL quality opponent in Tomlinson. Got robbed a few times and his finishing let him down.
Seamus started very strongly but ran out of steam. His defensive intent was fantastic and he ran very hard to link.
Ryan will be class. Multiple spoils that set up offensive play. His ball use and speed are also good.
Calsher & BMac had one or two good moments in otherwise quiet games.
Tucker played forward and was largely ineffective there. To his credit he does chase but he seems slow. Very much a centre square ruck.

Thanks Vando, excellent report. Hust Butler and Phillips too play? Thoughts?????

Great to beat Casey... and to do it emphatically. First time since 2019. Didn't give them a sniff.-go hawks

A good win and it was great to see the boys take it to Casey. They will gain a lot of confidence from that win. However i am going to come out and say it. Casey had no Ruckman. Meek dominated everytime he went in there. Ramma still gets pushed out of the way in the ruck. Needs to get stronger but took some strong contested marks around the ground.

Plenty of things to like about box hill. It was great to see butler get dangerous inside 50. Seamus laid some good tackles and i really liked Ryan's game the bloke is a real competitor and will be a steal for us. We have plent of Size, strength and ball winning ability at box hill now we should be looking at finals and top 4 and who knows from there

Casey arent the team they were it was still really great to flog em on their dung heap

Agree with your comments re ruck contests. Meek tends to dominate at VFL level but struggles against top flight rucks in the AFL. Ramsden marked strongly but unfortunately kicked inaccurately for goal.
I assume Fullerton was rucking for Casey and he is listed with Melbourne but if so did not trouble Meek. Ramsden’s best work is done forward and around the ground rather than in the ruck on yesterday’s showing.
Henry H and Bodie Ryan look like AFL players of the future.

I would like to give a shout out to James Parsons who kicked a magnificent goal off one step in his first game back from ACL surgery. Unfortunately shortly after he suffered a reported Achilles injury and will be out again for an indefinite period. Best wishes in his recovery.
Football can be a cruel taskmaster at times.

Geez Lloyd Meek is a big big man and he'll dominate if he is kept at this level for too long. Parsons kicking the first is awesome, sucks that his Achilles is gone, great footballer at this level.

I'm still a big fan of Jed Rule, he didn't get the opportunities he deserved last year. Cal Brown still too good as well. Ethan Phillips is also solid, awesome to see he has an opportunity on an AFL list this season.

Box Hill looking good so far, should get the choccies fairly easily on Saturday as well.

Great watch. Meek and Butler couldn’t have done much more to stake their case. Meek arguably a better fit this week against the cats. Butler isn’t a small forward he’s not electric he has high cruising speed he needs to be high HF or wing. Hustwaite good maybe do it again for a call up. Serong coming along nicely very bullish he makes it now. shame we have several medium defenders and no KPD. Morrison excellent probably close to playing. Ramsden has come on still another season away for mine but that’s totally fine.
The rest all showed signs will be great to watch their development through the year.
