Earthquake

I experienced an earthquake in Japan a few years back. I was in a shower in a high floor of tall hotel and it really shook. We were evacuated. We were told not to worry, Japan knows earthquakes and builds to withstand them. Well. It felt huge, some people died and a few buildings collapsed. All trains cancelled in Osaka and Kyoto due to track damage. Japanese people told us this was a big one.
Anyway this one today was almost exactly the same size as that (although deeper).
Our buildings, even the old ones which are not designed to withstand quakes, stood up really well. No one died (yet..or that we know of) and just a few buildings broke a bit - no massive collapses. It’s probably just luck but we did well. Good on us!
