FIFA Story - Real Madrid

After a wonderful first season for coach Michael Robinson for the world's greatest team, Real Madrid, a much harder task has come ahead of the reigning LFP champion coach. Robinson has moved up a level on skill level, with the settings showing professional game level instead of semi-pro.

Robinson took time over the off season to strengthen an already outstanding line up, which consists of the four best players in the world according to some, thanks to another addition to the midfield. Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho has arrived at Madrid along with English star defender Rio Ferdinand, who was lured from Manchester United. Both add to the line up with Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Raul and Roberto Carlos.

After winning every game in the previous season, and back on Europe's agenda, Robinson is expected to show his true colours in all fighting competitions.

In what was an entertaining season opener for both Real Madrid and RC Celta Vigo, the reigning champs came away with a win after the home side looked the better outfit for the first 40 minutes of the game. Edu put Celtic in the lead with the breakthrough coming only 25 minutes into the game, after Edu broke past Helguera to put it past Casillas. Luis Figo however put Real Madrid back into contention with a fantastic equalizer which saw him find space and put through a running shot. 1-1 at half time set up a good second half, but all the attacking came from Real Madrid who held on to the ball and shot whenever the right time would come. Zidane missed just after half time, and then 2 corners later, both opportunities went begging thanks to a strong defence by Celta. Zidane finally found the back of the net in the 68th minute to take Real Madrid to a 2-1 scoreline that would eventually be the final result. Zidane would be named man of the match.

Amazing scenes for Real Madrid as three champions were sidelined due to injuries suffered in the match. Zidane was struck in the first 5 minutes, forced to leave the field, while David Beckham felt a niggle after a hard tackle was laid on him just after Luis Figo had put through the first goal of the game in the 7th minute. Star transfer Ronaldinho would also be sidelined after Pavoni chucked an illegal tackle on and was yellow carded, just after half time.

Sergio Cruz put through a ball after a stunning run, to allow Cadiz to get an equaliser on Luis Figo's early strike. With such a long first half, Real Madrid striked in the last play of the first half, with Herrera Yague, who was subbed on, putting in a shot after Cadiz struggled to clear the ball after a corner. Luis Figo was named man of the match.

David Beckham and Ronaldinho are expected to be fit for the Barcelona match on the 20th, while Zidane is likely to miss several games.
