Melbourne secure late draw

Melbourne have secured a late draw against unfancied Perth Glory at Olympic Park overnight.

David Tarka opened the scoring for the Glory in the 17th minute, and Glory looked to be cruising to a comfortable win - but Danny Allsopp in the 72nd minute, to keep Victory's hope of winning the A-League cup alive.

Victory hit top gear against hapless United

Adelaide United spectators were seen walking out of Hindmarsh Stadium yesterday in a daze - after what could only be described as a vintage performance from Melbourne saw the home side crash to a 5-0 loss.

After a dubious handball decision gifted Melbourne their opening goal from the penalty spot, Melbourne found a new level of confidence. It wasn't long before Thompson doubled the lead, hitting a gem of a shot from outside the area in the 43rd minute.

Hess' half time talk seemed to add new desire to the Victory players, and another penalty just one minute into the second half saw Allsopp secure his double.

Not to be outdone, Thompson secured his double ten minutes from time after a brilliant counter attack. Sarkies completed the rout five minutes from time with a brilliant solo effort culmitating with an audacious chip over a hapless Adelaide keeper.

This win will no doubt help secure Victory's spot in the semi finals, and will put them back in the running for a home semi at Olympic Park.
