I’ve had a sore finger from posting about our forward entries over the last few years.I am watching the ARL match between Newcastle and Brisbane.
on the 5th tackle the Brisbane guy kicked. He duffed the kick and it rolled sideways/ forward going all over the place and the Newcastle player stuffed it up resulting in a try to Brisbane.
The commentator said “it’s amazing how many miskicks result in tries”.
It just reinforced my view that we need to stop bombing the ball and adopt the “Richmond chaos ball”.
JK; magnificent FF that he is/was; was never renown for his pack marks; Yet so many times we plonk it on his head and three or four defenders would crunch him.
Now we burst out of defence and bomb it to JD V 2 or 3 defenders and then abuse him for not marking it.
Tho‘ we never get them on the park together; we have some of the best AFL small forwards going round.Grubber the ball or kick it on the lace, JD JK NN AO all these guys are good below their knees.
If ARL commentators can see a relevant way forward why can’t we think outside the box?
Funnily enough after those comments we won’t see ARL players adopting the kick.
We are all slow learners!
